Hot Chip - Freakout / Release - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Hot Chip's electrifying seventh album, A Bath Full of Ecstasy, is the group's definitive , crystallizing the sound they've become celebrated for - bridging euphoria and melancholy with colorful melodies, idiosyncratic vocalizations and pounding electronic pop rhythms. Recorded in Paris and London, the 9-track collection sees the group (Owen Clarke, Al Doyle, Joe Goddard, Felix Martin and Alexis Taylor) open up to a more adventurous and collaborative song-writing process, choosing to work with outside producers for the first time Philippe Zdar, the French maestro who's shaped the magic of Cassius and Phoenix, and Rodaidh McDonald, the Scot who's collaborated with The XX, David Byrne and Sampha, among others. A Bath Full of Ecstasy is a fresh, invigorating and essential new chapter in the band's career. The record is a celebration of joy but recognizes the struggle it can take to get to that point of happiness. It is time to get lost in A Bath Full of Ecstasy!

With Why Make Sense?, Hot Chip restate their intentions as a band and redefine the very things that made them relevant in the first place. It shuns modernist dance floor tropes in order to flick through the dusty corners of the band's teenage record collections. Alternately jarring and chaotic, pared back, thundering, then pulsating and gloriously mellifluous, the album confidently displays it's influences.

Joy In Repetition covers Hot Chip's work, from their landmark EMI/DFA debut, The Warning, and traces their artistic evolution up to the present day. Alongside new track InchDevotion,Inch the comp is packed with stone-cold bangers from across their career InchReady For The Floor,Inch InchI Feel Better,Inch and InchFlutes,Inch to name a few. InchDevotionInch sees the band in full voice, merging pop hooks with their unique dancefloor mentality. Joy In Repetition highlights the consistency of their stellar career so far and cements their status as one of the most important British groups in the last two decades. To complement this, the album comes housed in a cover designed by legendary British pop artist Peter Blake, mastermind behind the iconic Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band artwork, and features a little monkey with a miniature cymbal (a little nod to InchOver and OverInch). The Joy In Repetition really is in you.
