Hot Chip - In Our Heads - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Joy In Repetition covers Hot Chip's work, from their landmark EMI/DFA debut, The Warning, and traces their artistic evolution up to the present day. Alongside new track InchDevotion,Inch the comp is packed with stone-cold bangers from across their career InchReady For The Floor,Inch InchI Feel Better,Inch and InchFlutes,Inch to name a few. InchDevotionInch sees the band in full voice, merging pop hooks with their unique dancefloor mentality. Joy In Repetition highlights the consistency of their stellar career so far and cements their status as one of the most important British groups in the last two decades. To complement this, the album comes housed in a cover designed by legendary British pop artist Peter Blake, mastermind behind the iconic Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band artwork, and features a little monkey with a miniature cymbal (a little nod to InchOver and OverInch). The Joy In Repetition really is in you.

With Why Make Sense?, Hot Chip restate their intentions as a band and redefine the very things that made them relevant in the first place. It shuns modernist dance floor tropes in order to flick through the dusty corners of the band's teenage record collections. Alternately jarring and chaotic, pared back, thundering, then pulsating and gloriously mellifluous, the album confidently displays it's influences.

By 2010's One Life Stand, Hot Chip had evolved. There'd been collaborations with legends like Peter Gabriel and Robert Wyatt, various solo albums and side projects, and, personally, settling down. They'd been touring the world for 10 years and reaching global audiences. As the decade drew to a close, Hot Chip began to take stock. Their songwriting had always been emotionally resonant but on their fourth studio album, it took on a newfound maturity, with themes of domesticity and devotion. The result was One Life Stand, Hot Chip's most concise album to date 10 songs that put melody front and centre. It's clearer and more direct, while outside collaborators infused the sessions with a new energy, fueled by anthems like 'I Feel Better' and the eponymous single 'One Life Stand'.Reissued here for the first time ever since it's with new liner notes by Kate Hutchinson.
