About this product
Junction finds the Hot Club of Detroit expanding it's sonic horizon and refreshing it's musical vocabulary. Still retaining it's core lineup of reeds, two guitars, accordion, upright bass (and no drums), now, for the first time, HCOD is joined by a vocalist French musician Cyrille Aimée, a native of Django Reinhardt's hometown and third-place winner of the 2010 Thelonious Monk international Vocal Competition.

Through these newer songs, the Hot Club of Detroit proves their mastery of Reinhardt's music, since they can not only play his songs so well; they know how to translate it to other styles. That adventurousness, combined with their considerable musicality, makes Hot Club of Detroit a first-rate debut album - and after listening to it, it's hard not to want to hear how they go forward on their next album.

NIGHT TOWN, the follow-up to Hot Club of Detroit's acclaimed Mack Avenue self-titled debut, showcases the band's maturity, virtuosity and musical growth. While HCOD remains true to their 'gyspy jazz' roots - and continues to tip their collective hat to Django Reinhardt - NIGHT TOWN delves into a deeper and wider milieu, drawing inspiration from the clubs of New Orleans to the free wheeling architecture of Miles Davis. Featuring collaborative compositions, these four- time 2007 Detroit Music Award winners are poised to cast an even wider net in 2008.
