This is a fast MFP LaserJet black & white printer that is great for home office or small business. It has a number of features that will save you time and money in the long run. The printer box had the printer, power cable and few guides. The toner was already installed. After removing few protective pieces and plugging the power cable in, the printer was ready to go. The setup process is easy but a bit time consuming. First you need to setup the network (I chose wifi connection) and after that use your computer to activate the printer. On my windows 10 computer, the activation process also guided me through the setup of HP+ and later of "HP Smart" app which is like the control center for all your needs. I will not go into the details of other specifications that are already available online or in other review rather I will dive into my own observations and things that I like and don't like. Pros: - Crisp and clear prints - Double sided printing - Wifi printing from all computers (windows 10 & 11) as well as android devices in my home - Fast printing speeds (especially compared to my previous inkjet printer) - A special ID-Card scan option - The touch display to operate the printer without a computer Cons - Once you scan using the "HP Smart" app on windows there is no quick setting to get back to home page. You have to click on "Back" arrow at the top multiple times to get back to home page. May be there is a way but I haven't found it yet. - Goes into sleep mode rather quickly and as I don't print/scan frequently during the day, I have to wait for it wake/warm up before it starts printing Overall, it is a good looking, well design printer that lives upto LaserJet fast printing standards and provides extra features at a decent (slightly higher) price.

This LaserJet Pro was a great choice for my home office. It is compact but manages to squeeze in features like 2-sided scanning and printing while being extremely quick. We have owned a few HP printers and they have all been reliable, but you cannot beat the speed and cost effectiveness of a laser printer. (((Pros))) - Size. This printer easily fits on my 20x20 side table with a few inches to spare in every direction - keeping in mind that you need to leave a little space for cooling and access to the back/side covers if you ever have to clear a jam (has not happen to me yet). - Speed. This printer is fast, even when printing double sided. I did not get to the 42ppm in the specs, but I did see speeds well in to the mid-30ppm single sided and right at 14ppm double sided. - Automatic double-sided printing and scanning when using the document feeder. - Scan and print quality are good even just using copy paper and the document feeder text copies are sharp and look professional. - Wireless scanning and printing using the HP Smart App. I have this app on my computer, tablet, my wife's iPhone, and my Android phone. It is very easy to use and works well on every platform I have tried. I often print email attachments directly from my phone or scan a document without having to turn on my computer. You can also see ink levels (even order ink) and change printer settings, but the printer's touch screen is really just as easy. - Hold 250 sheets in the lower tray with a simple level indicator right on the front plus another 100 on the fold out tray (tray 1). I normally keep letter paper in tray 2 and only use tray 1 to feed customer sizes (like envelopes and legal paper). - Even the standard cartridge can print 2,900 pages, which 15x more than my inkjet, and HP offers an extended cartridge with up to 9,500 pages. - Front USB port for thrumb drives is handy, allowing you to print or scan without any device. It reads my 128GB thumb drive with no issues and scrolling through files to find one to print on the touchscreen is easy. (((Things to Consider))) - The power cable is a good length at 6ft long, but if you want to use the fax or directly connect this machine to a computer you will need to get your own cables. - Lots of options are available in the settings for managing where scans are sent (email, cloud, network folder) and setting up users/passwords. HP also offers management apps to set up users. The HP SmartApp works well for sharing and my printer is only used by 4 people, so I did not try out these settings. - No color printing - really the only tradeoff for me, but I rarely need to print in color, and I can always go to the copy center if I need to. - This printer makes some noise at start and full speed, especially printing double sided - it is not bad, and it even offers a quiet mode that trades some speed to cut down on noise, but the motor and paper handling clicks are noticeable. It is in the same room as my computer and it doesn't bother me, in stand-by it does not make any noise, but I would not use it for double-sided printing during a conference call.

WOW! To say that this is a do-it-all workhorse printer for small offices or home offices is an understatement, though not without some features that may not be ideal for some. Like all HP printers, this is solidly built, and it’s speedy at up to 42 pages per minute (PPM). As a black & white laser printer, it users a toner cartridge instead of ink. The cost per page is inexpensive, but note the caveats to be revealed later in the review. High resolution of up to 1200 x 1200 dpi (dots per inch) assures crisp prints. In economode, think of this as draft mode, it uses less toner when perfection is not needed. Print with Windows 7 and higher, MacOS from Catalina and higher, Android, iOS and even Chrome OS for Chromebooks. Great results will come from printing on plain old 20# copy paper instead of higher cost inkjet paper. This workhorse is rated for up to 80,000 pages per month, though at that volume, if needed, you might be better off with a higher volume printer. A more nominal monthly volume of 750 to 4,000 pages is typical for this printer. Features include print, copy, scan and even fax. Wireless connectivity means anyone on the network can print to THIS printer. It also means that the printer itself can be located for convenience, not in consideration of hard wiring to the router or to a computer. Bear in mind the “gotcha” of the phone line for faxing, if this is important. It may also be hard wired to the router with Ethernet. Mobile printing options include Apple AirPrint and HP Smart App as the most popular, Wi-Fi Direct printing and a few others. Print from iOS and Android devices as well as while on the go from anywhere in the world with a dedicated email address unique to the printer. Other features include automatic document feeder (ADF) for up to 50 sheets, 100-sheet tray and a 200-sheet input tray. Add to these automatic duplex printing, a 10-envelope input capacity, and support for all the usual paper and envelope sizes up to legal. A bright, adjustable-tilt 2.7” intuitive color touchscreen is also part of its design. **WHAT’S IN THE BOX** • Printer with pre-installed HP Black Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge • Getting Started Guide • Support Flyer • Warranty Guide • Power Cord **THE SETUP** READ the setup guide! Download the recommended software for your needs at the HP URL provided. I use Macs and Windows PCs, both with the newest OS, and also iPhones, and Chromebooks. Plug it in. Use the excellent HP Smart software for all the devices. Use the guided, cloud-based setup. Follow the display’s prompts. This will take you through Wi-Fi setup and get everything ready for use. And now, the not so apparent “gotchas.” THIS printer works only with genuine HP toner and re quires an HP account. No third-party toner is available yet, and it might be a year or more before so-called generic and compatible toner becomes available. Until that time, users are locked in to the HP subscription program and will be automatically sent a new toner cartridge before the one installed runs out. Based upon initial usage and adjusted for usage on a regular basis, the new genuine HP toner cartridge will arrive with a prepaid recycling return package. This program is expensive, in my view and in my experience. For business users, however, it’s a good bet that running out of toner is not going to happen, so it’s hard to fault the plan for its intended business users. If and when the user cancels the program, the installed cartridge received under the HP Instant Ink program must be returned for credit. YOU don’t own it. It is only rented, so to speak. All set up, it’s time to . . . **PUT IT TO THE TEST** From the time the first print command is clicked, printing begins in under two seconds. Keep it going for print after print. There was success with every test; local printing, mobile printing, remote printing, faxing, EVERYTHING. Other than the toner subscription that sticks in my craw, the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101fdwe is best in class and should be a welcomed tool in your work or home environment, wherever high performance perfection is what YOU need and want. I love this printer’s performance! **CONCLUSION** Without a performance glitch to be found, this printer is highly recommended. **WARRANTY** Two-year bench/depot repair warranty is included.

Had dealt with many printers in past few years but i think i just found the perfect one to use for my small business. If you had a Hp Printer or not before doesn't really matter cause the setup process it's very intuitive and simple, the Hp apps are really user friendly and you'll be able to use them without a problem from any kind of platform(ios, android, windows, mac). Now this laserjet pro mfp 4101fdw is a monochrome laser printer and while i use inkjet for my pictures at home this one is strictly going to be used at work for quick id/documents copy's or payroll etc. where i found it to outperform the other types of printers in the way that this one yields more printed pages at a much faster speed. Plus the size of it allows me to keep it loaded with a lot of paper so i don't have to worry constantly on that matter. The screen does help if you don't want to connect it to any of your devices and it's very responsive! So far so good i see myself using it for a long time from now on!

Professional multi function printer offering features for business and home. With the world changing and people now working at home more this is a great printer. This is pretty much a mini version of a full size copier. The printer is equipped with a USB A port in the front which makes it convenient to scan documents and photos to without a computer or even print off of. The rear includes a fax port, Ethernet port, and a hi speed usb 2.0 port. The mfp is equipped with wifi and works excellent for scanning and printing on my network wether it be from my laptop, desktop (connected via network cable to my router), or iPhones. Features of this mfp include 2 sided printing, 2 sided document scan feeder (top tray) which holds up to 50 sheets, scanning up to 1200 dpi, printing up to 1200x1200 dpi, 42 pages a minute printing, hp pro wolf security built in, wifi. This mfp has a side tray (tray 1) and large bottom tray (tray 2). Tray 1 can hold 100 sheets of paper while tray 2 holds 250 sheets. Tray 2 is where you will typically use and load up. Tray 1 is what I often use for specialty paper or envelopes. Managing this mfp is what makes it different then most home or smaller business printers. You can adjust all of the printers settings, features, software through its portal. For everything that this printer offers I do wish it offered a larger screen to access settings and use to type on with a full on screen keyboard. In addition, I wish this was also a color laser jet. However, black and white is standard usually in this segment and more cost effective for everyday printing.

The new HP 4101 was ready to use almost immediately out of the box. This was different. tilt the box on its side and pull out the bagged printer. I removed a few orange shipping tapes and added paper. The toner cartridge was already installed. Be sure to have a friend if the machine feels heavy as it's definitely built for heavy use. Registration is quick and easy. I used WPS to pair the printer to my Wi-Fi. Quick and secure. The unit is quiet when not printing. The print quality is crisp. I am amazed at the speed of each page printed and the speed the printer prints the first page. Great response. This unit is built to print, and used heavily every day. Great for multi user environment. The scanner does a great job. To keep per page cost down and you are a heavy print user, go with the HP Instant Ink plan. Your per page cost will remain low. The unit is solid in construction. I looked over the paper path. Exactly what I have come to expect from HP. The LCD color touch display performs most everyday functions. It needed there is a RJ45 connector.

This HP LJ Pro prints and scans as just well as similar HP MFP models. BUT buyer beware, this model (401fdwe) requires a full-time internet connection to activate and operate. My activation failed twice and I had to wait until customer service reopened the next day to finish. It always has to be connected -- You cannot use in locations without outside internet and if your outside connection goes down you can't print. You have to sign off on a Terms of Service to only put official HP cartridges in it. The printer is constantly connected to HP servers that monitor and control your printer at all times, and HP will deactivate your printer (or worse?) if you use off brands/refill cartridges. They push you to only use the HP Plus apps for all features. Every single person who uses the HP Plus app has to have an account (*monitored by HP*) to print to the printer. Features you would normally expect in a HP LJ Pro (scan to network folder, for example) are locked behind a password, and instead of having the password on a sticker like other models, you have to run a report they don't tell you about to get the password. They constantly push Instant Ink subscriptions at you. Overall this is possibly the most consumer-hostile piece of computer equipment I have ever used.

This printer does everything I need it to do, and does it well. Set up was quick and easy. It's fast. I've only used it to print and make copies so far, but I'm impressed by how user-friendly it is.

Bought this to replace a lowoer end HP laser printer without the touchscreen that stopped connecting to the wifi. This was significantly easier and faster to set up, and I didn't have to fight with it during the setup to find the wifi because of the dedicated touchscreen. I just entered everything there and BAM it worked. Prints fast, holds a decent amount of paper. Highly recommend.

We bought this printer for our business and we do a pretty high volume of printing. We've had it for about a month and it works perfectly. It can hook up via USB,WIFI & I believe Bluetooth. Printing is fast & quiet. You can copy, print, scan & fax with this printer. WE definitely recommend.
