Customer Ratings & Reviews

This HP OfficeJet Pro has proven to be my ultimate home office printer. I struggled with printers that would either break down or the cost of ink would be too much. Now, with the 9720, I am very happy with how this has helped both my home office work and my children's school needs. Despite coming in a large box, the 9720 printer itself is remarkably lightweigh and features a nice soft-white design that matches my aesthetics and white all-in-one desktop computer. The setup process is the only issue I ran into. You are provided a QR code to set up with a step-by-step visual guide. My issue lay with the HP app as it was not syncing into my accound. Everything ran smoothly once I was able to get past this issue and finally having the printer connected to my home wifi and into my account. The 9720 has a very responsive, tiltable LCD screen that makes navigating settings simple, even adjusting the dates and time. Using the app on my ios devices makes this even more simple and effortless. Performance wise, the 9720 is excellent on all aspects. It handles both standard and legal-sized paper without needing two separate trays. This also has auto-duplex printing, and an automatic document feeder that works and has never jammed at all. Text and images are very crisp and high quality, especially when using standard bright 24lb paper. Replacing cartridges is very simple, and HP offers the Instant Ink Subscription where your monthly rate is based on how many pages you use. You can opt out of the subscription if you feel it doesn't meet your needs. Overall, this has been such a joy to have in my home office and for my teens to use for thier summer school needs.

The HP9720 is the world's first wide-format printer with P3 color. The P3 color system delivers an impressive true to screen color gamut with the widest spectrum of vibrant colors to date on any large format printer. P3 printers offer 25% more colors than traditional sRGB printers. Prints are supposed to match modern smartphone and laptop displays much more closely, reducing the surprise color shifts common with standard sRGB output. I printed a few maps on 11 x 17 copy paper, and printed full border-less photos on 11 x 17 glossy photo paper. All the prints came out with impressive clarity, definition and color. I didn't use HP photo papers, because none of the local stores had 11 x 17 HP photo papers in stock, so I just got some 3rd party glossy photo paper. The prints came out pretty nice, but didn't match colors exactly to my original photos. My original pics were in the P3 color profile, however some of the color and contrast seem to have been lost. Again, this could be due to the fact that I am not using HP photo paper. Most printers do best with their own brands of media, because they have been tested and designed to work best with their hardware. I am uploading 2 color photos and a couple maps I printed. While the colors were not exact in this test print, the pictures by themselves still look very good. The high def photos took about 2 minutes to print, and the maps printed in just a few seconds on regular copy paper. I originally wanted this printer for it's wide format capabilities, because I intended on printing maps for delivery applications. For this purpose, the printer will be perfect. The printer does except all the standard paper sizes and envelopes for printing. The flat bed scanner can handle up to 11 x 14 inch media. The auto document feeder can only handle 8.5 x 11 inch papers. The Auto doc feeder can scan double sided papers with the dual pass method. The depth of the printer is pretty close to HP's other 8 x 10 Officejet printers. The paper tray sits at a normal position to the printer for 8 x 10 papers, but needs to be extended forward to accommodate any media that is greater than 8 x 10 papers, like the 11 x 17. The extended paper tray is a little obtrusive, but not really noticed if you have the ouput tray extended anyway. the 2.7" Color Touchscreen is big enough to easily read and make selections on. IT also tilts outward to give you a better view from higher angles while using the printer. The width of the printer is about 23 inches wide, and about 32lbs, making it a bit bulkier than HPs other standard format printers which are about 17 inches wide and roughly 20lbs Regular prints and scans come out great as expected. FYI after printing about 8 full size 11 x 17 photos my ink reserves were down to about half, so if your intent is large format photos, you might want to make sure you have some additional ink cartridges on hand. Photo paper typically uses 2 to 4 times as much ink as plain paper. If you subscribe to HP's Instant Ink program you can utilize their mobile app to print from anywhere, as long as you have a data connection. The same goes for their PC app. This is extremely useful if you travel a lot or have multiple locations that you work from. I subscribe to the Instant Ink program specifically for this feature, and the FAX feature. I no longer have a FAX machine as I can send one from the HP app itself without the need for additional hardware or accessories. I printed a few larger scale images combining the prints to make larger posters. I taped the edges to join the sheets of paper. This is a great way to create much larger projects, without spending a ton of extra money. Overall this printer works great, and is a great option for anyone looking to make larger than 8 x 10 prints. It prints great on photo paper as well as plain paper. The colors were not as accurate as I would have expected on the photo prints, but that could also be because I was not using HP papers. I still love all the features that this printer brings to the table, especially with the added option of remote prints.

This HP 9720 OfficerJet Pro printer is well built, easy to set up, and surprisingly heavy around 33lbs. As an all-in-one device, it can print, scan, and copy. For scanning, it offers both a flatbed glass scanner and a 35-page automatic document feeder (ADF). The paper tray holds up to 250 sheets, and the printer includes a 2.7-inch color touchscreen for manual operation. The setup process is very straightforward and practically plug-and-play. Simply connect the printer to power and follow the prompts on the screen. There is also a QR code sticker on the printer that takes you to HP's website, where you can follow the installation instructions. During setup, you are directed to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to download the HP app. The HP app is user-friendly, and once the setup is complete, connecting the printer to Wi-Fi is easy. You can then print documents from any device connected to the same network. I printed several documents, and everything came out as expected, with great print quality and relatively fast printing speeds. I was also offered a three-month trial of HP Instant Ink, which I accepted. I have used this subscription service with other HP printers in the past and have generally had a good experience. HP sends replacement ink cartridges directly to your home and charges a monthly fee based on the number of pages you print. Plans range from $1.99 per month for 10 pages to $32.99 per month for 700 pages. One reason I decided to try Instant Ink again is that I don't print very often, and in the past, I have had issues with ink drying out before I could use it all. With this subscription, I find it more convenient to have replacement cartridges delivered when needed. Overall, this 9720 OfficeJet printer is a great printer, with a bunch of features including Ai is a great addition to my setup. It is marketed toward business owners, and I can definitely see how its features and convenience would be beneficial in that environment. WIth its fast printing, scanning and wide-printing format definitely a printer for a business. Be aware that it is considerably larger than a standard home printer and requires adequate space. In the box you get the printer, power cable, ink cartridges, and quick starter guide.

The Officejet Pro 9720 Wide Format Printer is the first office machine I have had that prints 11x17" color. As a family of 7 we print legal documents, professional work documents, schoolwork for the kids, and glossy full color photos of our family. One limitation I've had recently is paper size. Letter and legal size documents cover most of what I print, but when I want a full color poster, an 11x17 spread of a booklet for work or a spreadsheet that's readable without shrinking it down, a standard printer can't do it. This is what led me to the OfficeJet Pro 9720 wide format. - Unboxing - The printer shipped in a large box with plenty of padding and support, and mine arrived without any damage. Inside you get the printer, four setup cartridges in black, cyan, magenta, and yellow, the power cord, a setup poster, a reference guide, and the typical documentation. There's no USB cable, so if you plan to connect directly to a computer instead of over the network, you'll need to buy one. Personally, I think wireless is the easy method here. I can connect through my phone or my PC wirelessly. The setup ink cartridges actually give you a significant amount of printing before you buy more. I would estimate it at about several hundred pages (more or less depending on the type of coverage.) - Design & Build - It’s approximately 23 inches wide, 17 and a half deep, 12 tall, and a little over 30 pounds. It looks like a true home office printer, and even though it’s larger, it’s still economical with space. The wider body is what gives you the 11x17" print path. The control panel is a 2.7-inch color touchscreen that flips up on a firm hinge, so you can angle it toward where you're standing. It's a fairly large display for a printer, the icons are easy to press, and it's touch screen. From the home screen you can start a copy job and set the copy count. You can choose document or ID card mode, or start a scan to email, cloud, a network folder, or your computer. The menu button opens copy, scan, and utilities like printer info and connectivity, and there's a settings area for general, network, tray, and supplies options. This menu is very easy to navigate, intuitive, and the ability to tilt it up makes it easy to read. The off-white body is hard plastic. Nothing flexes when you press on it, the scanner lid has a solid, heavy feel and a sturdy hinge with enough travel for a thick document, and the main tray slides in and out without wobbling. The output tray has a paper catcher that easily flips out, keeping the long sheets from sliding off. One thing to be aware of: the scanner glass tops out at legal, 8.5x14. - Specs & Features - HP rates it at up to 22 pages per minute in black and 18 in color. Print resolution is 1200 x 1200 dpi black and up to 4800 x 1200 in color. HP uses thermal inkjet technology and you can print borderless up to 11x17”. For paper handling, the main tray holds 250 sheets of 20# bond, which is about half a package of paper, and the output tray holds about 75 sheets. There's a 35 sheet automatic document feeder on top that is very convenient for multiple copies. Two sided printing is automatic. Connectivity covers dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Gigabit Ethernet, and USB. I'm on Wi-Fi and the connection has been stable. When I installed it there was an immediate firmware update through my wireless connection. Wi-Fi connectivity is a simple setup right through the app on your phone. It uses four individual HP cartridges, one per color. I signed up for InstantInk so for a flat monthly fee I will receive ink cartridges before they run out. It's a monthly HP program where you can estimate your print usage, choose a tier, and receive replacement cartridges as needed. The nice thing about instant ink is that a full color photo counts the same as a quick business copy so ink usage is not the determining factor, it’s print count. It also has HP Wolf Pro Security built in (protects against phishing and malware through AI boosted software, and it secures your printer’s connection on the network). One tip on setup: If you run into problems installing the printer through the HP app, you can always switch to the HP app on your computer (this is what I did.) You will need to set up a login for your HP account. The benefit will be access to your cloud prints, access to Instant Ink, print diagnostics, etc. However, if you need to, most of these features are accessible through the flip up touch screen. And last, it also supports Apple AirPrint and Chrome OS. - Software - The HP app handles setup. I already had an HP account, so I opened the app and found the printer, connected it to Wi-Fi, and it was ready. I've been using the app on my computer as well, and it's straightforward, with everything I need in one place. The app does more than print. There's a dashboard for the printer, options to add more printers and users, warranty status, a creative template library. I use scan to file often. I can use my phone camera to turn a document into a PDF, or scan from the glass and save as JPG, TIF, PNG, or HEIF. It can also convert to a searchable PDF, a DOCX, or plain text. Scans also save to HP Cloud, so I can reach them from other devices. Shortcuts have been useful. You can combine actions into one step, such as scanning a document and emailing it to yourself, saving straight to Google Drive, or printing something and emailing or sharing it to the cloud at the same time. Quick sets do something similar for starting a print or scan without configuring every option each time. You can also set up a contact list so you're not retyping addresses for scans and faxes. The printer's control panel has plenty of options as well. You can adjust tray settings and set prompts like low-on-paper warnings or a tray lock, check supply levels and the print heads, and view jobs in progress, queued, and in your print history. The help section stood out. The help button pulls up short how-to videos. They're basic, but they cover things people commonly get stuck on: loading paper in the tray, replacing cartridges, loading small or photo paper, loading large paper, envelopes, and legal, placing originals in the ADF, and cleaning the scanner glass and document feeder. There are also tip sections for working smart, digital office, environmental practices, and a product tour. Along with the template library on the mobile app, the software side is clearly well thought out and more useful than most printer software I've used. HP is doing a great job here. You can send a fax from the app, which I've done. This is HP's mobile fax service running through the app, not a phone-line fax modem. Personally, I rarely fax so the mobile option is fine for me. There are AI features included in this printer. The main feature is print formatting, which cleans up web pages and emails so you don't waste sheets on ads and menu bars. It runs through the HP app on my PC. - Performance - Photo output was better than I expected. A full-coverage 8.5x11 photo on HP Glossy Photo paper printed in 1 minute 51 seconds, edge to edge with no white border. For that level of quality, it's fast, quicker than other printers I've used that print photos this well. Color is accurate. Skin tones look correct and dark areas hold their detail. Everyday documents print quickly. Text is sharp and dark at default settings. The 11x17 capability is the main reason to choose this over a standard all in one printer. Being able to print a full spread, a large chart, or a poster without sending a file to a print shop is convenient. Scanning is one-sided whether you use the ADF or the glass, and it handles up to legal size. The quality is good and it's been reliable. The optical scan resolution is up to 1200 dpi. For everyday documents, receipts, and paperwork going to email or the cloud, it's been more than enough. For color, it does the job. - Pros - * Prints up to 11x17, which few all-in-ones at this size do * Flip up 2.7-inch touchscreen that's large and responsive, and adjustable * Photos look excellent * 250 sheet tray and 35 ADF handle a household or small office pace without constant reloads * Four individual cartridges, so you replace only what runs out or you can use instant ink * HP app is exceptional * Useful on screen help with how-to videos * Instant Ink covers more than one printer under a single plan * Solid build with a flip-out paper catcher and a sturdy scanner lid * Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB connectivity - Cons - * Scanning only up to 8.5x14”, and one-sided only from the feeder * Larger footprint, over 30 lbs, you need to plan your space * No hardware Fax (mobile option only but it’s easy from the app to send a fax) The OfficeJet Pro 9720 does everything I need it to do. In the past, every print over 8.5x14” went to a print shop, and this one removes that step for anything up to 11x17. It handles all the printing I send to it: family printing, business printing, and just fun creative printing. The HP app has a ton of free creative template ideas. Of course it has some limits, but if wide-format printing is something you'd actually use, this covers that along with everything a home office all-in-one does. The exceptional design of the HP app makes it easy enough that the rest of my family can use it without help. If you have the desktop space or a printer stand I highly recommend this printer.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 9720 is one big boy! It designed to offer wide format printing while still being an all in one printer. The wide format allows you to print up to 11 x 17 pages and load them into the paper tray below. The scanner only supports 11 x 14 with an extended tray so that way as we’re scanning, it’s not falling off the printer. All of this makes it one big boy. Set up was common and easy just like any HP printer. Unbox it, remove all packaging tape, plug it in, scan the QR code and follow step-by-step instructions. Once you start following the instructions, it will instruct you to connect to WiFi, you’ll open the front of the case and insert the four ink cartridges and then you will through the proper procedure of aligning your ink jet heads. If you haven’t already, it will instruct you to open a HP account. They’ll ask you if you want to do a trial of their ink refill. A good thing to know is that once you set it up on one device on your Wi-Fi at home, it will be available on all of your other devices as a wireless printer so you don’t have to download the app multiple times over. I do recommend downloading the app, especially to your cell phones because most people use our cell phones or an iPad and it allows just more feature features that allows you to scan or even print from anywhere. This printer supports a ton of features. It has double-sided printing. It’s very fast. I was able to print a 20 page double sided document and to be honest by the time I hit start and got downstairs, which wasn’t that long. Maybe just a few minutes the printer was already done printing all 20 pages. That statistic is backed up by. It’s estimated print speed of 20 pages per minute black-and-white in 18 pages per minute in . I think that’s relatively fast for an inkjet. Although the scanner only supports 11 x 14 and not the same size that it can print 11 x 17 it does hold 35 documents. The print quality is strong 1200 x 1200 for black-and-white 4800 x 1200 for color which will support some nice graphics for large 11 x 17 prints or any photo. Other features include a 250 page tray to store paper, an illuminated interior so you can see jams and where you’re putting the ink in this is the first printer I’ve ever earned with an illuminated interior like a vintage car and finally the screen is 2.7 inches and it is a touchscreen which is adequate size to use the printer sometimes they can be too small while this is on the smaller side it is still very usable. The 9720 is advertised as a small to medium business printer but it is a well diverse tool and I really think it’s good for anyone that prints heavily. Well, I don’t own a small business. I am on a few boards and very active within the community and with my job having this tool ready to go just makes things easy. I’m excited to use this printer contact time because of how large it is and the ability to handle larger pages usually during tax time that’s when I start receiving some some large statements, and I can just pop them in and hit scan. I’m also on a public image committee for a nonprofit and excited that I’ll be able to print large flyers and graphics right at home. My local Staples and printing shops have all closed and I think that’s a common theme in our country especially outside of cities or high dense populations but that’s not always a case nowadays either so why not have the tool right at home?

The HP OfficeJet Pro 9720 Wireless AI-enabled Inkjet printer offers an all-in-one solution to those who desire a capable residential or small business printer. The touchscreen interface makes navigating fairly easy and the app integration is good for those who desire smart functions and printing from mobile devices. The wide format allows for printing up to 11x17” including scanning legal size documents. The Instant Ink delivery service touts 3 months of free ink delivered directly to your door. IN THE BOX: - HP OfficeJet Pro 9720 Printer - Ink Cartridges - Power Cable - Product Safety Guide, Quick Setup Guide SETUP: Unboxing is very simple and manageable by one person. The printer comes in a heavy duty plastic bag with grab handles. It isn’t a small machine but it’s not the largest 11x17” capable machine I have used. It is larger than the average residential printer that you may be used to. Once plugged in, the printer boots up to a screen with a QR code that allows setup via mobile device or you can select the traditional method of setting it up manually on the screen. Once you go through the steps, you’ll install the ink cartridges, connect to Wi-Fi, and calibrate the print head after paper has been placed in the tray. USAGE: It is recommended to download the HP apps to use the full functions of this printer but it is not mandatory. The standard paper tray included holds 250 pages which is plenty for the average user since it is very easy to refill. All of the tray adjustments are easy to perform if you want to change the size of paper loaded within the printer. The 2.7” screen is small for a printer of this size. I would have liked to have seen a larger 3-3.5” screen included for easier navigation on the printer itself. I am sure they are expecting users to use the app more than the screen but I would say this isn’t always true. It does tilt like most printers which is great for using it on a countertop or lower height than you are looking at it from. There is no standard USB port on this printer for those who may use that feature on occasion. The print quality looks good but I had some concerns. While using the copying function, I noticed the document would tilt sideways ever so slightly. This appeared to be an issue only on the auto feeder and not the main glass that it sits flat on. I am not sure if this was a paper feeding issue or a scanning issue but it is something I encountered. The colors look good with no major quality issues. One tiny feature I LOVE is the output tray extender is spring loaded so when you pull out the extender itself to hold printed pages, the extra flap automatically springs up into place. This is normally fully manual and an extra step to complete. Small details. OVERALL: The HP OfficeJet Pro 9720 Wireless AI-enabled Inkjet printer has been a nice addition to my office. The features are as expected for an all-in-one device that may be used across varying situations. The physical size isn’t too large and the build quality is what you would expect. I would like to see a larger touchscreen on the printer itself for easier usability and a front accessible USB port for those who need this function on occasion. Other than this, it has worked mostly as expected and I would recommend it to interested buyers.

Oh HP why do you do these things. I will start with the things I like about this printer. It is a nice size. Fits in places other printers that have the same capabilities cannot. Pretty quick and not as loud as I thought it would be without being in silent mode. Very easy to get up and running. I like that it can hold all the different paper sizes in the paper tray with some reorganizing the paper. It puts out a very good image on glossy photo paper. Ran a few 4x6 and 5x7 and was impressed with the speed and clarity. Tried some 11x17 glossy photo paper and had the same result (don't use 30lb photo paper, you will see marks from the rollers on the photo paper). Now for the not so great stuff. The display on the highest brightness setting is still kind of dim and hard to read (unless you are looking directly at it). This is a minor gripe but the power cord is too short. Inserting the ink was not fun. The cartridges kept launching themselves out the printer. They just wouldn't "click". After twenty minutes of fiddling around I finally got all of the cartridges to stay in the printer. Now this kinda of grinds my gears. Once I got the printer set up the location I wanted it in I got started. Ran the test page and the printer told me it was out of alignment. Yay!! Ran the alignment and it wasn't good. So I did it again and it still wasn't right. Ran it again and used the third level alignment. Success!! Printed a 4x6 and a 5x7 picture on glossy photo paper. Ran eight 11x17 pics through using generic glossy photo paper and liked what I saw. Now I know this is the didn't like section. After it printed the last 11x17 it said it was out of ink. Cyan and Magenta were bone dry. Regular print settings not best and it burned through the ink it shipped with doing alignment and printing a few test pages and 10 pictures. Other than that its a good printer.

The printer was easy to set up and connect. Overall quality is great and its exactly what I was looking for.

Just got it set up and connected to wi-fi. I have not had time to try all that it does, but so far so good.

I got this HP Officejet Pro 9720 wireless printer for many reasons. Besides the usual at home use for myself, the wife and kids at school, I have a small business on the side that requires a decent amount of printing as I create labels, receipts and scan quite a few documents . I also wanted a printer that wasn't going to take up a large amount of space in my home office and more specifically my desk. We have been using this printer/scanner for a little over 2 weeks and it has checked all of the boxes and then some. Out of the box, there is not assembly required besides inserting the ink cartridges. Since it is wireless, there is no USB cable, which for me is nice, because I already have enough cords running around my desk. Inserting of the ink cartridges is fairly easy. Before getting started I downloaded the app on my phone and desktop. The app is easy to navigate and use. Much of what you can set up on the control panel can also be managed on the app, so it is nice to have both options. You can adjust the panel and it's touchscreen is easy to navigate and it is responsive. I have had many HP printers and just like the previous printers, this one doesn't disappoint. The quality of the print jobs and speed are good. Not really concerned about the noise level, but I would say that it is normal compared to other machines. Of course as its name indicates, you have the option of doing the 11X17 print jobs, which is nice to have to improve the look and quality of a higher end print job. Quality of the scans are also good. As many products tend to have in the last 2 years or so, they now come with AI assistance and this HP printer is no exception. The AI feature that comes on the app allows you to enhance the print jobs and gives you the recommendations to remove excess that might take away from the print job. Overall, I am very satisfied with the HP OfficeJet Pro 9720. It checks off all of the boxes that one needs if you run a decent amount of print jobs on a daily basis.

I've been using this printer for a bit and I like it but for the more basic functions. I'll start with the fact that I love this size and format of printer. Being able to print on 11" x 17" paper is great. It's helpful when trying to do layouts and demos without having the have the cost of an actual large format printer. I like that it's wider than deep so it fits nicely on top of a file cabinet. The screen is not overly easy to see. I feel like I have to get down on it's level to see it clearly and the touch on the screen is heavy and seems delayed. The printer as a whole looks clean and professional and will look nice if it's sitting out in view. The printer tray is huge and well laid out with all the different sizes and orientations marked well. It did not work great for me with photo paper which I'll get into later. For normal paper it worked great. There are also a lot of access places once the trays pull out and the back flips open if there is a jam, it should be easy to clear. The quality is great. Regular printing is clear and crisp and the color is nice. Photos turn out very well, when you can get it to feed the paper. I actually had to push the photo paper into the rollers because it would not autofeed. If you're not intending on using this for photos often it's not impossible, but I can't recommend this for thicker paper. Hopefully mine was just a defect. The scanner is clear and easy. The software is easy to use and the app works well. setup of both the printer and apps are relatively straightforward. One thing that is noticeably missing for me is a multifuction input tray. I mainly use letter size paper so that's what I load in the main tray, but use ledger, legal, envelopes and photo paper fairly often and not having to unload the main tray every time is a huge help. Overall if this is a printer that's just used to run one kind of paper it will be great. Not being able to print photo paper easily is a drawback that will have to be factored in.

If I could only use one word to describe this HP OfficeJet Pro 9720 in the wide format, that word would be WOW! I’m very impressed with the look, the feel, the overall performance of this printer. I have an HP that we use exclusively at home for all of our printing needs and I was so happy with that printer that I jumped at the chance to receive this one. Pros: This MACHINE is phenomenal. It has so MANY options that it would take a while to describe them so instead I will I hit on the ones that mean the most to me. First of all, this printer just “looks good” it is well made, well designed and functions perfectly. This is the first printer that I have owned that allows me to print in the wide format and 11X17 sheets of paper. I use this exclusively at my job, I am a Pastor and even though we have a large, industrial printer that we use for the business of the Church, I no longer have to walk to the secretaries office to print, I have my own and again, its phenomenal. I love the color screen, I love that it’s wireless, I love how the paper loads, I love that I have not had one single issue w/ this printer. I plugged it in, I connected it to all my devices wirelessly and it does what it says it’s supposed to do. I like the instant ink, I like that it’s not that heavy, I like that it’s just a well thought out, well made printer. WOW! And by the way, I HIGHLY recommend it and it is well worth the price!

I’ve been using the HP OfficeJet Pro 9720 printer for a couple of weeks already, and my experience with it has proven that it is a great addition to my home office. It took me little time to set it up and connect it to my wireless network. I have printed both from my laptop and my phone with no connection issues. The print quality is great. The black text is clear and crisp while charts, images, and color documents are also of high quality. The ability to print large pages up to 11x17 inches enables me to print spreadsheets, posters and other documents that need more space than the standard letter size. The importance of the responsive touchscreen and user-friendly settings cannot be underestimated. I have used the device to scan and copy documents and everything went fine. The automatic document feeder has helped me to easily scan multiple pages while the automatic double-sided printing feature has helped me to save paper. The 250-sheet capacity of the paper tray has allowed me to print a lot of documents without having to refill the tray for a long time. The only drawback I see is that the OfficeJet Pro 9720 printer is a bit bulky which requires more space on your desk compared to an ordinary home printer. Also, it undoubtedly works better with original HP cartridges competing devices. Overall, I believe that OfficeJet Pro 9720 is a great printer from the point of view of its reliability, printing speed and the ability to print in color and duplex mode.

The printer came nicely packed and was easy to remove from the box. The hardware setup was quick and easy as the printer comes completely assembled only requiring the user to remove a few pieces of tape and cardboard. The printer is capable of receiving print jobs over wifi only requiring power to be supplied, allowing for more places within the office for the printer to be set up. Despite the lack of a need for an ethernet connection, the printer’s large width limits its placement. The printer does not come with a paper manual which is rather disappointing given the lackluster guides on HP’s website. The printer has a small touchscreen LCD above the power button where the user interacts with printer settings. The small size of the LCD presents an accessibility issue for people with large fingers or impaired vision. This became apparent during the set up when the wifi password had to be typed in manually. The printer comes with a single set of CYMK ink cartridges. Which seem rather small for a wide format printer. Inserting the cartridges was an okay experience however, the lack of an audible “click” to indicate the cartridge had been fully inserted can make one uncertain the cartridge is seated properly. The printer alignment took several minutes to finish. In order to use the printer, the user must install HP Smart and create an HP account. The user experience on HP Smart is in short abysmal. There is no way to use the printer other than through HP Smart. The software set up took an hour due to the poor design of HP Smart. The app also requires access to the users location services. The app also asked to collect data on four separate occasions during set-up despite declining all optional data collection. At every turn within the app HP Instant Ink is pushed on the user. Once an account was finally made and the printer connected the app had three separate hard to close pop-ups for HP Instant Ink. Using HP Smart to print is straightforward. The app’s design is streamlined however, this lends itself to limiting the user. The print settings are extremely limited in the print dialogs requiring the user to access printer settings through two separate windows asking the user for the printer’s PIN every single time almost requiring the user to leave a sticky note with the pin on it on their monitor which seems to defeat the point of having a PIN. The app also has an issue with a seemingly unresolvable error which does not allow the user to select a paper type despite the correct paper type already being set within the printer settings on the app and on the printer itself. The printer quality is high. Printing on regular bond leaves crisp text in all sizes and prints quickly. Printing on photo paper can be tricky despite the printer supporting HP Photo Paper. The photo paper often fails to get picked up within the tray. This sometimes can be remedied by only placing two sheets of photo paper into the tray/ However, despite the issues feeding the paper the printer preforms admirably in printing photos and graphics. Printed pictures are sharp and retain most of their vibrancy. The printer’s scanning features do not work from the printer and require the user to start scanning from their device using HP Smart. The scan quality through the document feeder is okay. Small details are lost however small text is still readable. The printer glass quality is also okay. Small details are lost and some color quality is lost. Despite this the scanning is quick on default settings. Despite being a wide format printer the scanner cannot accept tabloid 11”x17” paper. In conclusion, the hardware of the printer is good, the quality of prints is great and paper feeds mostly without issue with regular bond. For most office jobs this printer will perform fine. For photographic printing the printer performs fine. The ink cartridges are overpriced, and this printer will likely eat through them quickly.

This is a very powerful printer with a solid construction and a beautiful tilting large color LCD screen. It has all the goodies with a large paper capacity in terms of the number of sheets, excellent clarity of print outs, scanning, fast printing speed, multi-paper feeder and wide format paper capability. This printer has a larger footprint than most personal printers in order to accommodate an office environment where legal, engineering and many other types of industries would require the wider format paper feed. The glass on top is also larger to easily make larger copies. It is not so big that it cannot be used in a personal home environment. It does give you capabilities beyond the usual-sized home printer. I did use the new HP App on a Windows PC to do the Setup. Ultimately it worked but there were some glitches that HP should try to eliminate. The process could not get the WiFi password like it said it could, but this was a minor glitch. Then the Setup Process got stuck in a loop saying “Sign into Your HP Account” even though I was already signed in. It says sometimes “…sign in using your browser if problems” but that did not work. I did try a 'Diagnose and Fix' option and this also got caught in a loop with a confusing message “Exit Diagnose and Fix?” then underneath it gives two options Exit and Continue. I say 'Continue' and it comes back with the same message. Ultimately, I overcame all these obstacles, and the printer was working properly both via the HP App or via Windows - great. Now I see the LCD screen on the printer is still showing the QR code panel. Other HP printers automatically remove this screen and display the normal Copy, Scan etc. screen… Turns out if I hit the question mark in the message the QR screen gives way to the proper screen. I did find that other users had the same confusion. I do expect that using the cell phone to do the install may have been a better option versus installing from my PC. Although I mentioned some setup curve balls, this is an excellent printer at a very reasonable price point, and I do highly recommend it with the caution you need to weave through some minor setup/install glitches.

First wide format printer for me, and as an art/print lover, I'm was really looking forward to trying the 11" x 17" output to add to my collection. That aside, it's a printer from HP, you know it's going to work and do its job. You have your standard features of a scanner and auto-feed tray, thumb drive printing support, touchscreen interface with everything you need along with being able to type on a keypad and not do the old-school hit the same key 3 times to cycle through letters/numbers, which always made setup a total headache. None of that here! And everything works, setup was done in ~10 minutes, paper was loaded and off we went. Speaking of, you can fit upto 250 sheets of paper, half a ream, so massive storage there. There's an advertised 22 PPM for black and white with 18 PPM on the color side, and in my testing I think that's actually a little on the low side - your mileage may vary, but for standard documents I was seeing more like 25 PPM and 20 PPM, respectively. But I'm splitting hairs. For portraits and art, you can take the DPI up to 4800 x 1200, which provides more than enough clarity and detail for just about any piece you'll want to frame up to that 11" x 17" size. Easy recommendation; has the bells and whistles you'd expect with a larger format capability that you don't *need* to use but is there if and when you do want to mess around with it. Prints, scans, does what I asked it to do and didn't give me any headaches. That's a win in my book.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 9720 Wireless All-in-One is an absolute workhorse that effortlessly bridges the gap between everyday office tasks and professional wide-format printing. What really stands out is its ability to handle up to 11x17 tabloid-sized prints, making it incredibly easy to produce sharp, borderless marketing materials, large spreadsheets, and vibrant graphics with rich P3 color accuracy right from your desk. The set-up is quick and hassle-free, while the self-healing dual-band Wi-Fi and HP Smart App integration mean you can send jobs seamlessly from your phone or laptop without annoying connection dropouts. Printing speeds are impressively fast for an inkjet, document scanning via the automatic feeder is smooth, and the AI-enhanced document features make digitizing paperwork noticeably faster. It does take up a bit more desk space than a basic desktop printer to accommodate the larger paper size, but for any small business or home office that needs versatile, high-quality wide-format printing without the commercial price tag, it is a fantastic investment that reliably delivers every single time.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 9720 is one of those printers that makes considerably more sense once you begin using everything built into it. It is larger than a typical home printer, but that additional size comes with a much larger range of capabilities. Between regular documents, photos, scanning, copying, and wide-format printing, it can take the place of several more specialized devices. Getting everything out of the box and set up was easier than expected. Installing the ink, loading the paper, and connecting it to my home network were all straightforward, and I did not encounter the connection problems that can sometimes make setting up a new printer frustrating. The touchscreen walks you through most of the process, but the HP app is where the setup and everyday operation really come together. Printer apps are often something I install because they are required and then try to avoid afterward. HP’s app is surprisingly useful. It provides easy access to printing and scanning, shows ink and printer status, and makes it simple to send something directly from a phone or computer. Scanning a document and saving or sharing it as a PDF takes very little effort, and the shortcuts are helpful for tasks you repeat regularly. It is organized well enough that other people in the house should be able to use the printer without needing much instruction. Print quality has also been very good. Regular text documents come out sharp and clean, while color graphics have a vibrant but still natural appearance. Photos are better than I expected from a printer designed primarily around office and general-purpose use. It is not necessarily intended to replace a dedicated professional photo printer, but it produces more than enough detail and color quality for presentations, family photos, my kids’ school projects, and other creative printing. The wide-format capability is one of the biggest reasons to consider this model over a smaller all-in-one printer. Being able to print up to 11-by-17 inches opens up considerably more possibilities. Large spreadsheets, calendars, charts, posters, photo layouts and presentation materials can all be printed at home instead of being sent to a print shop. Even if I do not use that size every day, it is a valuable option to have when a normal sheet of paper feels too restrictive. It is also relatively quick during normal use. Black text documents begin printing without much delay, and larger multi-page jobs move along at a reasonable pace for an inkjet. The 250-sheet paper tray means it does not need to be refilled constantly, and the automatic document feeder is convenient when copying or scanning several pages. Automatic two-sided printing is another useful feature for longer documents and helps reduce unnecessary paper use. My biggest downside is simply the amount of room the printer requires. It has a fairly substantial footprint, especially when the paper tray and output area are extended, so it is better suited to a dedicated desk, shelf or printer stand than a small corner of a crowded workspace. The body feels appropriately solid, but this is not a printer that is especially easy to move around regularly. Ink cost is the other consideration. The included Instant Ink trial can be useful to determine how much you actually print, although the value of continuing the subscription will depend heavily on your monthly volume. Some people will appreciate having replacement ink shipped automatically, and myself am not a power user who this printer is really made for. Overall, the 9720 is a versatile and user-friendly all-in-one. Setup is easy, the HP app is genuinely helpful, print quality is strong, and the wide-format support gives it uses that most standard home printers cannot match. It makes the most sense for a home office, small business, creative household, or family that regularly handles a mixture of documents, photos, and school projects. As long as you have enough space for it and understand the scanner and ink limitations, it offers an impressive amount of functionality in one machine.

I gotta say I was really caught off guard by the gigantic box this came in, but then I saw the actual printer and it made sense because this thing is big. That being said, this printer was a lot more lightweight than I expected out of the box. Weight does not necessarily equal quality, especially in a printer so it doesn't really matter. It looks like a pretty standard home office printer. In terms of setup, you do have to use an app and have an HP account. Usually, I absolutely hate that everything now is done through an app and you need an online account for everything. However, this is a wireless printer so this is something that is to be expected. The HP app is not too hard to use so there is that. One thing that I was more annoyed than I expected was the display brightness. The size is good but for whatever reason, it seemed a bit dimmer than it needed to be. Print quality was good. Text was crisp. Color documents were decent. One thing to note is that it does seem to burn through the magenta and cyan cartridges much more quickly than others. Now, one thing that I absolutely do feel is a fair criticism is the Instant Ink program. HP is pushing hard into it and they even include 3 months of it in the printer. I think its awful. It's so full of arbitrary rules that it almost is never worth it. You pay for pages not ink. Doesn't matter if you have one letter on a page. Unless you can accurately predict how many pages you will exactly print, you will either overpay for unused pages or overpay because you went over your limit. They also brick your cartridges as soon as you cancel your subscription which is wasteful and anti-consumer. Regular cartridges are also super expensive and HP makes it impossible to use third-party cartridges. All in all, the printer is decent. The Instant Ink program also is hard to recommend.

HP OfficeJet 9720 I needed a printer that can handle 11X17 paper. This is awesome. I also was eager to test out the AI printing capabilities. Even though it comes in a large box, the unit itself fits really well on my side table in my office for printing. Set up is pretty straightforward. You will want to download the HP app to your mobile device and log in (or create an account if you dont already have one). ONce you do that you are ready to follow the set up screens. Of course the app will do more than just help you set up the printer. I was eager to test out the AI print options right away. Mainly this will allow you to limit unwanted content when printing. For instance when printing a website it will help you reduce unwanted content and ads so you print less ages and the content is concise, just what you want. So far this has been very helpful. The display screen allows you manage all the settings but you can also do this from the HP app. I personally find the app a great resource and use it more than I do the display on the printer. Scanning is great and again I can manage the scans from the app. The document feeder is great too although it is only one sided for scanning. I really like the 11X17 paper size and the print quality is awesome. I have used the HP Instant Ink before and you get 3 free months to test this out. Overall easy to set up, lots of features and quality is awesome with a very handy app for all your printing and scanning needs.
