This Pre build is one where the company does it right. Cables are managed nicely, nothing was loose on arrival. Runs smoothly on every game I've played so far. Max settings on Sea of thieves at 1080p, I get 100 to 110 Fps, Rise of the Tomb Raider max settings I get about 80 fps at 1080p, and then Conan Exiles at max I get about 100 fps at 1080p. I got it on Black Friday for 900 U.S dollars and it's worth every penny. Looking forward to upgrading in the future. Overall this buy is rated a GG EZ.

Although it is a gamer computer, I bought this one for doing digital image And video processing for my business. It will not disappoint you if you plan to use Lightroom and Photoshop and Adobe Premiere. Graphics card is outstanding as I can do 30bit deep color rendering. The wireless card has been capable of speeds of 280 Mbps even with the computer sitting about 25 ft away from the router in the second floor. The mouse was a simple wired mouse that I immediately replaced with a wireless one. The keyboard is also wired but very comfortable and a great layout of keys. No speakers or monitor are supplied with this computer. Memory is easily upgradeable up to 64 GB. The computer boots faster than any other computer I’ve ever had. It is not loaded with much bloatware.

I was fortunate enough to find this on sale for $899. Like others, I tried to find another 16gb stick of the HyperX RAM but was difficult. HP was no help on the matter. Finally called Kingston and asked them to match the HP part #, the rep gave me a new part # stating that "it should work". I kind of chuckled and said "what"? He basically said it would either work or would lock up the system, which in that case just turn off system, remove the stick and turn back on. No harm, no foul. I ordered from Amazon for $69, had it next day. As I type this, I'm looking at OMEN Command center which is showing 32GB. I also ran a Windows 10 Ram Memory test which took about 45 minutes but returned no issues. Now...this is not to say that 2 weeks from now the system may crap out, who knows? I can't imagine why it would work stop working but who knows. I will attach image of replacement 16gb stick.

This is the best computer I’ve ever had (even considering the fact that it’s not currently booting up at all (due to the faulty BIOS update that HP recommended). It’s great for gaming if you’re just getting into it and it looks pretty cool. Just don’t trust that BIOS update, my dudes.

I bought this computer on Black Friday last week for $899 and am extremely happy with it. Out of the box it looks very sleek and the glass side panel makes it look very high end. I have played a few games on it so far, such as Overwatch (on Ultra settings with a stable 60 fps), Minecraft with SEUS shaders (also with a stable 60 fps) and Destiny 2 (was not able to get an exact fps, but it looked to be around 60 too), and all ran very smoothly. This pc is also pretty fast and was able to download my games almost twice as fast as my old laptop. You can also change the color of the lights on it as well. Overall, this was an exceptional deal for what I paid and it’s probably the best purchase I’ve made in a while. Would definitely recommend!

So everyone knows I have been a Mac user my entire life. I still love my iPhone and iPad Pro for on the road work. But when it came time to upgrade computers, this computer is king of the road in value! I paired it with. Beautiful Samsung 4K 40” Monitor and poof! Now that I have this power house of a pc for all my video work I naturally had to buy an Oculus as well seeing as I now own a gaming platform as well. So I use one in my studio as a dedicated work pc and I bought my second to put in my loft as more of a family gaming pc. I love the looks of this pc. The boot up time is unlike any other thanks to the 16 memory paired with a Dedicated Solid late 250 gb boot up disk. I could not recommend this highly enough!

This particular desktop is very nice out of the box. SSD got the computer setup in a few short minutes. Restarts in less than 30 seconds. Customizable LED inside case. Beautiful setup and cable management inside case. Plenty of room for upgrades. Considering replacing the HDD with a larger SSD. Highly recommend this system.

HP Omen is super fast, and I love the glass side and very colorful and we'll lit inside. My granddaughter loves it, too.

This being my first gaming pc I was impressed with how sleek and powerful it was despite only being a 1660 ti model graphics card with the intel i7 9700k CPU, ran Destiny 2 and FF14 both at 60 fps while having majority of settings set to high. I went to upgrade the PSU the other day to prep for the coming months of upgrades I wanted to do thinking the PSU should be the first thing so I went with the EVGA 850 wat GQ over the stock 500 wat PSU. Took some time to install and the cable management on the 850 is way better. Wasnt until I tried closing my access panel that my sata power cable was sticking out from the new PSU while the older one had a 90 degree angled sata power cable this one did not. I tried pulling the HDD out in the meantime so I could close the case but one of the factory snaps broke off, I could still take the HDD out but only owning it a little more than a week and 1/2 snaps broke already? The 850 is also massive and it covers up the back panels screw slot to take it off not to mention takes up half of the bottom panel, a bigger GPU would almost be tricky to install with the limited space. Pros: GPU, CPU, good size ram, nice looking case with the black/red. Factory cable management was amazing. Cons: poor spacing for upgrades, poor quality of some of the internals.

I bought this PC for my 16-year-old son for his birthday and he LOVES it. It's primarily used for Fortnite and we've had no issues. He and I would definitely recommend.

It works great for writing novels and editing videos

It does pretty well as a gaming desktop. Had it now for 2 months and i can say that it really does well in VR and casual gaming. Its upgradable too so in the future i can totally upgrade all the components. I just wished the motherboard was allowed to have 4 dimm slots rather than 2 like the other equivalent chipsets.

HP has come out with a new gaming tower, the OMEN Obelisk. There are different levels of hardware available, but this one works well for the money-conscious. The package comes with the PC tower, regular keyboard and mouse, power cord, and some paperwork. The PC comes with a basic HP 1-year warranty. Rather than go over ALL the specs which you can already find on this Bestbuy.com page, I'll try to give more observations of those specs instead. PROS: ----------- * Visually, the tower is simple, stylish, sleek, and gives great access visually to what's going on inside. * HP has created the ability for you to change the color, pattern, and frequency of light inside the chassis and on the OMEN logo on the front of the computer. Nice added feature. * The PC boots up lightning fast with the provided 256GB SSD as expected. And the best-in-class i7 9th-gen 9700F processor is what you want in a gaming PC * USB Superspeed with HP Sleep & Charge port (on the top/front). This is great for charging up wireless headphones when the computer is in sleep mode. Great feature by HP. * HP put a combo headset/mic jack and a single mic jack on the top/front in the event that you have one or the other. You are not forced to use what they choose - they give you the option. * Smooth seamless gaming. I have used for Fortnite and Grid 2 along with a couple of other less-intensive games on the Steam network. There is no lag when playing games even on wi-fi (we have 100Mb/s up/down fiber connection) * This PC comes with an extra HDD expansion slot in the chassis. Thank you HP for including a data cable in this model. (The last OMEN I had did not include an extra data cable so one had to be purchased.) * Easy access to the inside of the chassis. * Includes 16GB DDR4 SDRAM (1 stick). There is one more slot you can use to expand further; however, due to the nature of the SDRAM installed, if you do expand, you may have to buy 2 brand new sticks rather than 1 due to the nature of the existing one. It's complicated, but if the 16GB is working fine, just go with that. * For other tasks other than gaming, the system barely blinks. Windows Update and video authoring may be the only things to get it to work harder. CONS: ----------- * As is with most HP's, the keyboard and mouse are basic at best. Most gamers will have their own keyboard/mouse combo anyway, so HP decided to put the lowest of the low in the box. Probably a cost-effective decision on their part for them. * Lack of USB-C ports. There is only 1 on the back. I would prefer to have at least 1 available on the front somewhere with more and more devices going to USB-C now. * The unit can get a little loud if intense gaming is in progress; however I rarely was able to push it to that limit with the games I was playing. Most of the time, it looks to exert very little effort to make your experience a good one. * No optical drive (DVD/CD) * Minimalistic power button. Usually a power button is easier to find and is a highlight of controls. This one does have easy access though and does not light up. OTHER OBSERVATIONS: ------------------------------------- * For 1080p gameplay, you're good to go. If you get into 4K play @60fps, the Graphics card (GeForce 1660 Ti) may slow you down a little. This being a money-saving gaming tower, 4K doesn't seem to be taken as much into consideration. CONCLUSION: ============== Overall, this gaming desktop gives quite a lot of bang for your buck. It is minimal in its build but does give some expansion options in places. The lack of an optical drive may also be a make or break piece of hardware. At times, you really need one. I'll be using for a while. Looks cool with the see-through chassis and lighting, it's fast, and as long as you have your own keyboard/mouse, this is a great option. Unless you're a serious CPU-intensive gamer, this should work for most people.

Up until a year ago, I'd no more consider HP for a computer purchase than I would ask for the flu. Suddenly, however, in the past year, I've had a chance to experience an HP Envy laptop and now this HP Obelisk Gaming Tower and I am so impressed with both. FIRST IMPRESSIONS Out of the box, this unit comes with 16gb of ram and features a 256 gb ssd for the operating system and programs and a 7200 rpm 1 TB drive for data. This was fantastic. The unit came installed with windows 10 version 1809 so the updates were minimal - I moved the system to version 1903 with relative ease. Boot times are blazing fast and the system is fairly quiet under normal operations. The exterior lights up with the Omen logo in red (though you can change color) and the interior lights up as well (see pictures for clarification). I ran the 3dMark bench test using the Time Spy test and the unit came out with a score of 6945 which now makes it the most robust computer I have; I played enjoyable sessions with Starcraft 2 both on the system and over the network and was impressed with the speed of the start and the flawless visuals. This unit can (and will soon) be upgraded to 32 gb of ram - hyperx ddr4 16 gb comes standard. NOT SO IMPRESSIVE Keyboard and mouse and real let downs. You'll need to upgrade to gaming backlit keyboard and a quality mouse for sure if you want to get the most out of this. For the price of the unit, I was surprised something better was not included. This item is the ONLY negative that I can see. TAKEAWAYS This unit is much faster than my Dell first generation RYZEN 7 gaming tower (though I still like it) - both are equipped with 16 gb of ram and the Dell recently was upgraded to an NVME ssd which is superb (Western Digital) - the 3dMark test on that Dell was much lower than the HP Omen - 4213. I have neither the time or the interest in building a gaming unit so I wanted something that was off the shelf and ready to go and this HP is superb. It looks wonderful Aside from the plebian keyboard and horrible mouse, this is a very nice machine that is fast and has some upgrade ability to it.

This PC is hitting a sweet spot for gamers who want a good value and solid performance in most of today’s games at full HD but don’t want to build their own PC or spend hours tweaking settings. If you are into overclocking the CPU and memory to get every ounce of performance out of your PC, you are still better off doing a custom build. If you want a relatively compact PC at a fair price that is very capable for gaming today and has components that can be easily upgraded for the future this PC should be on your list. Open the box, and there is the surprisingly compact case in a plastic bag with handles. Pull it up and out, get the power cord, and you are ready to go. There is also a very basic HP branded optical mouse and keyboard in the box…they are fine, but not gamer grade. First, the case. I REALLY like this case. Clear tempered side panel, clean lines, push button side panel release, and RGB LED lighting that isn’t crazy. Using micro ATX means that this case is smaller than most and it’s classy enough to fit in most homes. Inside, it has a removable air filter, two slide out drive bays for 3.5” drives, and space for a radiator on the top if you want to go liquid cooled some day. There is also a support for full length cards. A couple of notes – there are no 5.25 bays on this thing and no optical drive of any kind. Also, the slide out drive bays are tool-less, to remove a drive you squeeze the tabs, pull out the tray and gently pry the side rails open away from the side of the drive, there are 4 pins that go in where screws would traditionally go to hold a drive in place. The drive bays do have 4 screw holes for mounting a 2.5” drive (such as an SSD), but you will need your own screws for that. One nice touch is that the vacant bay does have both power and SATA cables run to it. Other case notes, it has two USB ports, a headphone/headset jack, a mic input, and the power button inset in a cutout wedge on the top of the case. One of the front USB ports supports higher output power so you can charge a tablet or other fast charge a device on it. The power supply is unremarkable, a 500W bronze efficiency part. A single 80mm rear exhaust fan rounds out the system support mechanicals of the unit. A 1TB 7200 rpm hard drive is included, which is OK for a system in this price range. I have the PC set into an under desk space, and I found that the drive created a very noticeable resonance hum from the drive motor. Combined with the noise from the drive head clunking around, it was overall pretty loud. Keeping with the price point, the part is adequate, but spinners are what they are and many users will want to replace this with an SSD as one of their first upgrades. The motherboard is a micro ATX board with OMEN branding. It has two RAM slots, two M.2 slots (both occupied, one with the NVMe primary drive and one with the wireless card), and an unused header for liquid cooling if that is in your plans. The NVMe on my system is a 256gb Western Digital part, and it is just ridiculously fast. I’m blown away with how fast NVMe is. It is almost like loading things from system RAM, the PC can boot in as little as 5 seconds to the Windows 10 login screen. The RAM slots allow for dual channel if both are occupied. On this model only one is in use with a single 16GB stick. More on that in a minute. The board supports two SATA drives and the cables are provided and run to the drive bays. The south bridge is an Intel H370 part..which means no overclocking of the CPU and RAM. It’s a solid part that doesn’t have to manage a lot since the board is limited in connectivity, but this is not a PC for overclockers. The back panel has one 10gb/s USB A port, one 10gb/s USB C port, 4 5gb USB A ports, one gigabit Ethernet port, and three analog audio ports. Finally, a single PCIe slot is there for the all-important GPU. The CPU is a 9th gen Core i9-9700. It has 8 cores and no hyperthreading. As it is a non-K variant, it has a slightly lower top clock speed and again no overclocking ability, carrying the theme in this box that while it has solid parts that gamers will use, it isn’t designed for the overclocking crowd. Personally, it doesn’t bother me as I am not a benchmark junkie and don’t like to run my system on the edge of stability to get a few more FPS. This part is more than adequate for 99% of users. The system RAM is one area that I wish HP had done better. A single 16GB stick labeled as HyperX Fury is included in the system running at 2666mhz (1333mhz actual). DDR memory sends data on the up and down portions of the clock signaling, so the advertised speeds are always twice the actual clock. 16GB is plenty for almost every user and gamer, unless they are doing extensive ultra quality video editing, CAD modeling, or running several Virtual Machines, so that isn’t the issue…. The RAM has a very high CAS latency at 19. Even though the RAM’s clock is running at 1333mhz, and the faster the clock the less the effective latency is as well, it is still very high and offsets the benefits of the higher clock speed. It is also a unique part number, HP26D4U9D8ME-16X. Since this is just a single stick and a unique part number with an oddly high CL of 19, it’s almost impossible to find another one that matches to enable dual channel memory access. Dual channel allows the CPU to use both RAM sticks as a pair and greatly increases memory bandwidth, which is important to feed that i7 CPU. It is almost like HP is using a lower quality yield of RAM from Kingston’s HyperX line that has to have a higher CL clock to run. I looked all over the HP shop, and even HPs parts store, which states that the RAM is not orderable there, trying to find another stick to no avail. If you want dual channel, you are basically throwing out this part and getting a new RAM pair for the system. I really wish HP had included two 8GB sticks, even of the higher CL RAM, so it was running in dual channel or at least allowed customers to easily buy a second stick. Another note that shows that this is a bit more of an “as is” box – the system BIOS does not allow for XMP to be enabled for the system memory. XMP is a technology that allows the system to clock the memory to a maximum clock the manufacturer has specified as stable. While the H370 chipset on this board supports it, it cannot be enabled here. In fact, the system BIOS is pure vanilla HP, with none of the options enthusiasts enjoy. While not unexpected from a support and warranty perspective, it just reinforces that most of the performance is in the parts and not in tweaking on this box. This will likely cause you frustration though if you buy higher performance RAM – almost all RAM is marketed with the faster XMP numbers and not with the “standard” clock speeds. If you want to replace the system RAM, find the manufacturer specs and look for the “SPD” or JEDEC table to see how fast the memory can run in your system. For example, I did replace the HyperX stick with a dual 8GB set with a CL of 15. While that memory says it can go to 3000mhz, it is capped in here at 2133 as that is the top JEDEC spec for it. On the H370 the maximum XMP speed is 2666mhz, so the lack of XMP support is leaving some performance on the table here. Even at the lower speed, this RAM actually benchmarked faster than the included single stick since the CPU could leverage dual channel and the CL 15 meant that it had a lower effective latency even at the slower clock speed. Finally, we are on to the GPU. This GPU is an HP manufactured GeForce 1660 Ti. It has 6GB of GDDR6, and is remarkably small as a half length card. On the back is a dual-link DVI, DisplayPort, and HDMI port. The 1660 is an interesting card, it is the new Nvidia Turing core without the ray tracing bits, and runs about as well as a GTX 1070. It has some other add ons over the 10X0 cards, like hardware video encoders, that make it a really powerful part for the price. If you are gaming at full HD and looking for high frames per second, this card can do that and it allows this system to really perform above its price point. If you want to push into 4K gaming at 60fps or higher, this card may fall short, but considering how much the GPU alone costs to get to that goal, this system is a good value. Once powered up, the fan noise from the system is low and not annoying at all. When ramped up playing a game the fans become a little more audible, but since most gamers have a headset on it’s not noisy enough to be a problem. There are no whines or weird fan resonance noises, it just sounds like air moving as a white nose. Performance for the system is very good for the price. For most gamers, this will meet their needs with room to grow and the case allows for easy upgradability when the time comes for new hardware. Running several benchmarks show good numbers despite the weakness of the RAM in this system. The new 9th gen Core i7 and the new 1660 Ti really shine here. Fortnite averages about 110fps in the game on Epic settings at 1080p. On a whim, I priced out a similar system if I had built it as a DIY project, and came out to almost exactly the same price with an inferior case that didn’t have LED lighting or wireless, making this system a solid choice that isn’t ridiculously marked up over the consumer price of the components. This is a very capable system at a reasonable price for a gamer or power user who is looking for an off the shelf system that doesn’t require all the work and research for a DIY system. The case is a highlight of the system, along with the NVMe, brand new i7, and the GTX 1660 Ti. HP could have done better for gamers by having a system BIOS that allowed for a few more options, especially XMP support for RAM, and by selecting a better memory configuration for the system. Overall, I recommend the system and plan on using it for quite a while!
