Limited colored vinyl LP pressing. Ibeyi features French Afro-Cuban twin sisters Lisa-Kainde and Naomi Diaz. Performing from a young age, the daughters of famed Cuban percussionist Ánga Diaz, have released two critically acclaimed albums, a self-titled debut in 2015 and Ash in 2017. Spell 31 is their boldest offering yet, an antidote to apathy in a divided world. Ethereal, crystalized signature Ibeyi harmonies are fused with gospel, persuasive percussion, momentous deeply resonant bass, and electronic neo soul expressions, transporting us into a sublime rawness that is refined by Richard Russell's precise hand and synthesized into astonishing clarity.

Andy Human and Sam Lefebvre began writing and recording Desire Choir in 2021. They biked to a West Oakland rehearsal space and tracked drums and bass to an old tape machine. It was an accretive process, initially disoriented from live performance. Influenced by a Inchcommunist interpretation of collective musicInch and the variable post-punk and dub combinations of the On-U Sound tag, as they write in a pamphlet companion to the album, Non Plus Temps emerged as more singers and players sought affinity amid the pandemic-era social isolation and unrest. The result joins various instruments (sax and saz, synths and bells) and production techniques in a sound like the Inchbroken headlight skyInch mentioned in InchEndless Jetty Night,Inch the nervy, Residents-like meditation on coastal subduction zones closing the A-side. Album opener InchContinuous Hinge,Inch with vocalist Amber Sermeno, is a backbeat beaded with Stanley Martinez's electric viola, while InchFacts Sound Like MythsInch introduces pinballing dub paranoia. InchReversible Mesh,Inch they write, suggests a Inchself-conscious Eno affinity surrendering to Chrome.Inch
