Illusory - Crimson Wreath - VINYL LP

Limited red colored vinyl LP pressing. Lanna's pristine and ethereal vocals move fluently between slow paced groovy songs and rigid, industrial inspired hymns, held together by Mondelli's Swedish death metal-oriented guitar riffs (early 2000 In Flames and Soilwork) and by a powerful and precise drumming. Keyboards add a fundamental layer to Volturian's music, ranging from New Wave to 90's Europop to obscure gothic atmospheres. The album concept relies on dark, obscure and romantic themes, infusing the band's lyrical imagery with gloomy Victorian vibes.

Limited double vinyl LP pressing housed inside of a gatefold jacket with a metallic silver undercoat. 2015 by the alt-rock band. Nine years since the last full length from The Velvet Teen and the band has written what could arguably be their best record yet. From it's gorgeous, swirling electronics to it's harder, angular, '90s-leaning flourishes of grunge, indie and emo, All Is Illusory is a welcome return for a band whose varied influences are still very much intact after its short silence. The album was mixed by Steve Choi of the RX Bandits and exemplifies the band's use of driving guitars, exceptionally technical drumming and lyrics by Judah Nagler that will make the listener question reality. All Is Illusory, the band’s fourth album, is the long-awaited and elegant follow-up to 2006's Cum Laude.

In the spring of 2017 Saskia Coolen stayed as an artist-in-residence for almost 7 weeks in the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology in Oregon. Her original plan to improve her old-style improvisation skills was put in a different light by the remark we don't expect anything from you, take the time and see what happens. InchThis is a gift of time.Inch She started 'playing' and experimenting. New ideas germinated there. New material in old forms and existing music in new forms. Inspired by early music, the shakuhachi, beat boxes, minimal music, playing with Lego and the nature of Oregon. So everything. Back in the Netherlands, people in her Zen meditation group sometimes listened to her improvisations and decided that an album should be made. Their silent attentive presence at the recordings was essential. Visual artist Margriet Oomen made drawings inspired by the music for this album. A number of these drawings are folded into the cover as loose Leporellos.
