Inger Nielsen - Inger Nielsen Sings Danish Folk Songs - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Accompanying himself on guitar, Haugaard presents Danish life through song. Haugaard was born in Denmark and though he grew up in America, returned to Denmark often and learned the songs of his motherland. He was a painter/sculptor by profession, but clearly had a gift for music which he shares with listeners to this album.

While Noorman was studying at the University of Illinois during the 1950's, she met a woman from South Africa who had recorded South African songs for the Folkways tag. It was her friend's idea to have Noorman send in a tape of Dutch songs from her childhood. Noorman took her advice, composed guitar accompaniments to the songs, and a few weeks later they were officially released on Folkways Records.
