A: I covered them with a hand towel and tapped them into place with a rubber mallet. It only took a couple of lite taps. They are quite secure.
A: This has one setting for the fridge located within the fridge. You turn it up to engage the freezer temp and then turn back down again once the freeer reaches the desired temp. Freezes my ice cream hard as a rock without freezing the cans of pop inside my fridge. i have put meat in freezer and fridge and had no problems. Both get good and cold! Love my little fridge!
Q: What is the outside made of is it metal ?
A: A magnet sticks to the sides and door, so metal.
A: It is an actual freezer compartment with a separate door. I freeze ice cubes and store frozen foods just as I would in a regular size refrigerator.
A: Both parts of mine worked fine almost immediately. I accidentally started mine up for a little bit right out of the box before I noticed the instruction to wait 4 hours. I could tell both sections were cooling immediately. I unplugged it and waited 4 hours, and it works fine. I have a small refrigerator thermometer that I tried in both compartments. The lower compartment holds steady around 39-40 degrees, and the freezer gets down to -16F!
Q: What are the dimensions of the freezer? How many 16.9oz water bottles would fit in there?
A: The freezer is 14.1" W x 14.9" D x 7.8" H, the volume is 0.9 cu. ft. (26.4 L).
Q: does the Insignia 3.1 Retro Mini freezer require defrosting or is it frost free?
A: It requires defrosting, more energy efficient that way. It comes with a little plastic scraper. I haven't had to use it yet, but it's only been 2 weeks.
Q: Can you switch the side the door opens?
A: No, you cannot switch the side the door opens.

I’m really happy with my new mini fridge — it’s the perfect little addition to my space. It’s surprisingly roomy inside for snacks, drinks, and even a few frozen items thanks to the separate top freezer compartment. The retro look and creamy/mint vibe adds a fun touch to the room, and I love how it stands out compared to regular boring fridges. It cools everything consistently and hasn’t been loud or annoying. It feels well-made for what it is and fits great in smaller areas like my office/basement/dorm. Overall, it’s been a really solid purchase and exactly what I needed for extra fridge space.

I recommend “Curbside Pick Up” if possible. I wanted to make sure my new fridge would get to me safely without any dents. Also saved me the trouble of loading it into my vehicle. Back seat had to be folded down to fit this inside my Wrangler. Bulky, but lightweight to unload. Base & top corners have styrofoam padding to prevent from dings. Cord was taped to the back of the fridge. Comes w/ a cute miniature ice cube tray & a plastic ice scraper tool for the freezer when ice begins to accumulate along the walls unless you take it outside to defrost. Color is vibrant cherry red. Has some shine to it. I was the least impressed with the cheap lightweight plastic handles. Overall exterior construction seems to be made of cheap materials - possibly easy to dent if you’re rough with it. Gently slide handles to the right & push it in with your palms while holding the door opened. I found that handles were hardly needed due to the size of the fridge, I would usually open directly from the edge of the door jams VS the handles (I keep it on my living room floor). Overall, good looking thing to look at & I’m happy with it. It’s something fun for my living room. Looks like a toy. I got it to store drinks & desserts - my supplementary fridge. It gets cold fast. No annoying noise. Relatively quiet. Took maybe 30-45 min or so to get cold after set up. It’s real cold even on setting 3. Side door for lower compartment fits soda cans in zig zag formation from standing position. Freezer side door fits sticks of butter w/ some room. I fit about 5-6 Dryer ice cream tubs in the freezer compartment w/ room for ice cube trays. Bottles would need to lay parallel to the shelves for storage or just remove one of the shelves. Just play some Tetris w/ it & it’ll work out. Drawer feels slightly flimsy but has a good amount of room for fruits/cans/bottles, etc. Very useful & plenty of room as a supplement fridge/if you hardly cook. It’s been close to 1 month since purchase date & so far so good. I highly recommend it if you catch it on sale again ($149.99).

Perfect little fridge that does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Looks great (love the retro red), runs quiet, and actually gets cold—freezer included, which is a big plus for the size. Fits perfectly in my basement man-bunker retreat for drinks and snacks without having to run upstairs. Solid build, great value, and zero regrets so far. Would absolutely buy it again.
