We needed a way to transfer files from one computer to another. The universal file transfer cable did exactly just that. The built-in software starts instantly with no installation needed. We've used the same cable to move files between two PCs and between two MACs, both had different OS versions. A great tool to have around.

Transfer cable good quality and most effective. Did the trick, but you need to read the instruction before you use it.

If you've ever used an FTP program, then you'll find the software included a breeze. Somehow, it is right there in the cable! Truly speeded my way through moving hundreds of files. You do have to refresh occasionally to see files in the new location. Glad to have it. PC to Mac, PC to PC transfers.

I never knew there was an easy way to transfer your files from your current or "old computer" to that of a new one, but it is much easier & almost PAINLESS. I used a Universal File Transfer Cable with built in software made by a company named; Insignia and not only was it a piece of cake it was a lifesaver to me as well.

I recommend to everyone to purchase this cable. It is the fastest way yet that I have used to transferred data directly from one laptop to another without any interference.

It seems to work okay for transferring data from my tablet to my PC. However, I was hoping that I could also use it as an extension cord for my USB-A to USB-C adapter that I bought to use with my Lenovo tablet for charging. When I plugged the two cords together and plugged them in to my tablet, it didn't charge the tablet. I think that the description of this cable needs to specify that it cannot carry a charge to recharge batteries. I would have bought a different cable if I had known that this one couldn't charge devices.

Easy to use decent length transfers are fast. Cable is sturdy and the price is right.

This cable was recommended by my associate when I was purchasing an upgrade desktop computer. It is so simple... Nothing to install. Just plug the two computers together with the USB cable. The application starts and shows you a file structure of the old computer and the new computer. All you need to do is drag and drop the files you wish to move to the new computer. Piece of cake and it transferrs fast. Don't try migrating files without this great tool. The price is cheap and a great value.

The cable had software included within it which I thought was neat. I was able to connect the cable to my laptop without issue and connected to my portable wireless hard drive but it did not recognize the hard drive. After reviewing the cable's box, it is intended to connect two computers, not a computer and hard drive. Ended up taking it back...

I accidentally found this on sale at Best Buy after talking to my Dad about the troubles I had transferring files from friend's and relative's lap tops to mine (via flash drives). It was even on sale at a better price than what my Dad found on Amazon. I recently transferred an hour and 10 minute project video from a friend's computer to mine. 32 GB flash drives wouldn't work for some reason, so without this cable, I would not have been able to get this file.

Plug and play to transfer data from a PC to a Mac. Only problem was I went from a Mac to a PC, then back to a Mac. So, some of the files didn't transfer in formats that were compatible and corrupted some files. However, this was a very cheap and fast way to transfer the majority of my files fast and easily.

This is the second time i had to purchase this product but only because i needed to determine why the first one (from Amazon) stopped working after only six months. Turns out the most recent MS updates to my Windows 10 wound up doing away with the Insignia Easy Suite drivers and the transfer cable stopped working. Only when i purchased the second cable were my suspicions confirmed and when i contacted Insignia they too agreed. The source of my frustration was not the cable but the updates MS had provided me with. And unfortunately Insignia had no idea when the new drivers for their cable would be coming out.

I needed a good data transfer USB style cable for backing up my laptop to an external drive and this one fit my needs. I've had poor luck with cheap ones so I bought a good quality cable this time and now my back-ups work perfectly. I've found Insignia to be a good quality product and will continue to by these products.

Cable worked very well. Has built in software to assist in transfer. -- Would like to have had more information in the kit and/or user guide to read and understand process before starting process.

I bought this cable to transfer my files and settings to my new computer. The set-up was easy and within a couple of minutes I was looking at all the folders on both computers. All the info I read including the brief instructions, said the transfer would be automatic! It would transfer all files, list programs to reinstall, and provide links to other internet programs I had installed on my old computer. Great! But all I saw was every folder I had on both computers. And it stopped. After much searching, and climbing the chain of Microsoft support personell, and a subsequent link to yet another website, I found in the fine print at the back of the FAQ's that if you are transferring fron a 32 bit system (windows XP) to a 64 bit system (my new windows 7), the auto transfer won't work, and you will have to manually select which files to move, and hunt for what ever programs you want to reinstall - the 64 bit version of course! It would have been a lot less frustrating if I had known that up front, say an FYI on the product packaging or at least in the instruction FAQs. The manual transfer worked fine.

If you need to move files, photos, and computer information, this is the quick cheap way to do so. Software is already loaded into the cable. It's been a great help transferring files between my two desk top computers. Very happy with it.

This as all Insignia Products is a quality cable, but I ordered it for a purpose that it is not suited for. I was actually helped by a Best Buy person who thought it would work for my purposes (to charge another device) but it doesn't work for that and is meant to transfer data from one computer to another. I don't have a need for that kind of cable at the moment, and since it is kind of pricey I decided to return it. However, if I do later have a need for such a cable I will probably purchase this again since it appeared to be of high quality construction.
