Customers value the sound quality and affordable price of the On-Camera Shotgun Video Microphone. Many found it easy to use and set up. However, some experienced compatibility issues with certain devices. The microphone generally receives positive feedback for its performance relative to its cost.
Did what it's supposed to do, I had no problems with it. Pleased with the product and especially at the price it is, you can't beat that. I'm sure there are bigger better things out there. For me as amateur videographer, this was a very helpful and useful tool. Two thumbs up.

The unit provides reasonable equivalent sound levels to the camera's internal mic. Avoids some of the camera generated focusing noise, and wind noises. Fits the mount, and the shock supports seem to do their job. Have not determined battery life... but with internal battery and low draw on the electronics... one should get well beyond a 2 hour video shooting window. Without special test gear, can't confirm what the pickup pattern is, but seems ok for an inexpensive device.

Insignia On-Camera Shotgun Video Microphone (Black) is a very inexpensive option when compared to Rode Video Mic Pro. On the plus side, it is an inexpensive product and the high-pass filter helps with background noise On the negative side, it has limited effective range. Furthermore, the quality didn't seem any different than the onboard microphone. Lastly, it feels cheap and flimsy.
