Insignia™ - PETG 1.75mm Filament - Gray

As someone who enjoys 3D printing and is constantly looking for reliable materials for different projects, I recently had the opportunity to use Insignia White PLA filament. After putting it through multiple prints, I wanted to share my experience with its quality, performance, appearance, and overall value. Whether you’re a beginner just getting started with 3D printing or someone who prints regularly for personal projects or a small business, choosing the right filament can make a significant difference. In my experience, Insignia White PLA has been a solid option worth considering. First Impressions and Packaging My first impression of the Insignia White PLA filament was positive. The packaging was professional, and the filament appeared to be well-protected. Proper packaging is important because moisture can affect filament performance, particularly when it comes to print quality, layer adhesion, and consistency. The white color immediately stood out as a versatile option. White filament is one of those materials that can be used for countless projects, from practical household items to decorative prints and customized products. I was looking for a filament that could deliver a clean, consistent appearance without requiring excessive post-processing, and this filament seemed like a promising choice. The spool was easy to handle, and the filament fed smoothly into my 3D printer. Having a filament that is easy to load and manage makes the overall printing experience more convenient. Print Quality and Appearance One of the biggest reasons I enjoy using white PLA is its clean and professional appearance. White prints can look especially good when the model has sharp edges, detailed features, or a modern design. Insignia White PLA delivered an attractive finish that worked well for the types of projects I wanted to create. The surface appearance of my prints was generally smooth, and the white color gave the finished models a clean look. Of course, print quality depends on several factors, including printer settings, nozzle temperature, layer height, print speed, and the design itself. However, when the settings are properly adjusted, the filament can produce results that look great. Filament printed great right out the box, I do tend to start printing right away though I do start drying and tend to print and dry at the same time, so usually plenty dry by the time I’m printing any follow ups, the get clear with a filament definitely takes some adjusting to the settings, orientation of the print, infill settings whether going with a vase mode or 100% infill , layer lines are bound to get picked up, anything less and you’ll see infill and possible cloudy result, played around with some test prints and while looking great never really clear, but works for my purposes and certainly strong as expected with petg, mostly made some doll stands for my wife from this roll and they turned out great, she loves them, and has requested more, so I’ll definitely pick up another, and honestly can’t beat the price right now!

Originally purchased this filament for the price only to realize it’s probably the best quality filament at its price point. The print quality and performance behaves much like Polymaker rapid PETG. Once put through a filament dryer it retains its dryness substantially well. I’ve had a roll left out for a few days and it hardly absorbed any moisture (16% to 18%). The spool retains shape well and works with the AMS although I like to add spool rings to reduce cardboard dust. It comes vacuum packed tightly and I’ve yet to get a spool that has lost vacuum. I primarily use a Glacier plate and the finish of my prints is exceptionally smooth. Often time I don’t even need to take the plate out slides out smoothly. To say I’m surprised is an understatement. This has quickly become my go to PETG to have in stock at my house at all times.

I was very happy to see PETG filament at Best Buy, and since white is my go-to, I bought a spool. I don't know if I have had a bad print since exhausting the first spool and being 1/3 through my second. It just works! And while some have said PETG doesn't have a nice surface, I'm quite satisfied with the finish I have gotten on some statuettes and on decorative coins. I'm buying other Insignia PETG as well. Cardboard-sided spool the only negative. Not stopping me from buying more.

What can I say about Insignia PETG filament? It is filament. It is black. It prints things. Against all odds, the label was completely accurate. I’ve been using it with a Bambu Lab printer, and the standard Basic PETG profile in Bambu Studio works perfectly for it. No mysterious tuning ritual, no sacrificing a Benchy to the 3D printing gods, and no spending three hours adjusting temperatures by half a degree while questioning every decision that led you to this hobby. I loaded it, selected the normal PETG settings, and it printed just fine. The filament feeds smoothly, the prints come out looking good, and—this is important—it remains impressively black throughout the entire process. Not dark gray. Not “midnight charcoal.” Black. Exactly as advertised. One small reminder for anyone new to PETG: keep it warm and dry. PETG loves absorbing moisture from the air, and once it does, it can start popping, stringing, and generally behaving like a toddler who missed nap time. A filament dryer or dry box can save you a lot of aggravation, especially if the spool has been sitting out for a while. At the end of the day, it’s difficult to write an epic tale about a spool of plastic, which is probably the best compliment I can give it. Filament has one job: go into the printer and come back out as something more interesting than filament. This does that job. 10/10 — would successfully convert warm, dry black plastic string into slightly more complicated black plastic again.
