Q: Does it come with sand? If not, what kind of sand is recommended and how much?
A: It does NOT come with Sand. I purchased 3 50lb bags and almost used all of it. I just searched for pool filter sand and purchased it from Lowes.

A: Hard to answer without knowing what type of filter system you currently have. These types of pools although come in various sizes, sometimes have sand filters and sometimes a cartridge type. Regardless I would expect to need a fitting or a coupler maybe because it's not just a universal kit. All the parts I needed additional which was one piece, I found very inexpensively on an online retailer that has everything from A to Z. Also, would not ever buy one from bb, or anything anymore from them. Unit is great but their customer service is a joke. They have had 350 dollars of my money in a defective unit and the "replacement", hasn't shipped. They want me to ship back the defective unit with 110 pounds of hazerdous material sand in it via UPS or I have to wait for replacement unit, which I have been, for over 3 weeks.
A: The pump comes with hoses and a pool jet for the discharge. I installed a Hayward skimmer on my 18x48 Coleman pool and it works great with this pump. Takes a little bit of engineering, but not to difficult to do.
Q: Is it compatible with summer waves 20x48? Also does it come with a strainer?
A: The Intex 3000 GPH Above Ground Pool Sand Filter Pump with Automatic Timer, is compatible with Intex pools. It includes (2) 1.5" nut connecter hoses. It does not include a strainer. We hope you found this information helpful.
Q: What is the horse power on the pump
A: Not sure about horse power but it 2800 to 3000 gallons per hour. Very powerful pump compared to the little cheap ones that come the above ground pools. I have a 48x18 foot pool and it is more that adequate. Best pump on the market in my opinion for any above ground pool.
Q: Is this pump compatible to use with a 18x48 coleman pool?
