About this product

The unconventional structure of Gian Francesco Malipiero's music takes us on a journey through unexpected, sometimes incredibly beautiful vistas. The Sixth Symphony is a rich and songful celebration of string sonorities and moods, while the heroic Ritrovari and evocative Serenata mattutina display Malipiero's expertise in writing for unusual chamber ensembles. The Cinque studi, heard here in their premiere recording, demonstrate an astonishing range of contrasting moods- a kaleidoscopic sonic tour with no more than a small orchestra, which juxtaposes orchestral strings with a wind group of a single flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon and two horns, and a percussion group of cymbal, bass drum, tambourine, celesta, and piano. Album Tracks 1. Symphony No. 6 'degli archi' (of the strings)~Allegro 2. Symphony No. 6 'degli archi' (of the strings)~Piuttosto lento 3. Symphony No. 6 'degli archi' (of the strings)~Allegro, vivo 4. Symphony No. 6 'degli archi' (of the strings)~Lento, ma non troppo - Allegro - Lento - Allegro - Molto triste (Lento) 5. Hsu Evergreen Symphony Orchestra Schmalfuss - Symphony 6 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The premiere of Franz Lachner's Symphony No. 6 was held in Munich on 19 April 1837 with the composer as the conductor. The Munich press termed it a Inchmagnificent workInch and an Inchoutstanding masterpiece,Inch and in this truly extraordinary work Lachner refrains from the confrontational juxtaposition of large- thematic blocks (above all occurring in his third and fifth symphonies), instead presenting a Inchmore organicInch compositional style in which motivic-thematic developments are realized step by step. Lachner's Concertino for Bassoon and Orchestra is a work from 1824, composed during his Vienna years. He dedicated it to Theobald Hürth, who was then the Vienna Court Opera Orchestra's principal bassoonist. It is not known whether or not Hürth ever performed this work in public, and performances of it are not documented. It is one of the earliest extant compositions by Lachner and possibly his first work with orchestra. Here Chia-Hua Hsu, the solo bassoonist of Taiwan's Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, interprets it's recording premiere. Album Tracks 1. Symphony No. 6 Op. 56 in D Major 2. Concertino for Bassoon & Orchestra in E Flat Major

Symphonieorchester Des Bayerischen Rundfunks - Symphony No. 6 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Among Simon Rattle's first concert programmes as the new chief conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra was Gustav Mahler's Sixth Symphony. The performances marked the beginning of a new chapter in Mahler interpretation, for Rattle, like his predecessors Jansons, Maazel and Kubelik, is an ardent admirer of the composer. BR-KLASSIK has now released the live recording of the concerts.Gustav Mahler's Sixth Symphony is perhaps the darkest work he ever wrote - it's nickname is InchThe TragicInch. And there is something almost destructive about the final movement. InchBut strangely enough, Inch says Simon Rattle, Inchit is also a very classical symphony. Yes, it is extreme, but for long stretches it is less wild than other works of his - although of course it does convey a harrowing message. But it's like a lot of great works there are always different ways of reading them. I've been conducting the Sixth for forty years now, and over time I've come to realise that it also contains hope.InchMahler composed his Sixth Symphony during the summers of 1903 and 1904 at his Inchcomposer's cottageInch in Maiernigg, near Klagenfurt. At the Vienna performance in 1907 (the third under his baton), he called it the InchTragic SymphonyInch - a nickname that soon became the stuff of legend. In particular, the darkness and devastating hopelessness of the finale - written at a time when he was at the high point of his life, both professionally and personally - are puzzling. Even his wife Alma could not quite explain the contradiction. As always, it was in and through music that Mahler came to terms with his experiences, exploring themes such as farewell, the meaning of existence, death, redemption, the afterlife, and love.More than other Mahler works, the Sixth Symphony is committed to InchclassicalInch symphonic form it is in four movements and has no vocal parts. Despite all th

Shostakovich / Estonian Festival Orch / Metsamart - Symphony 6 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The Jarvi family is a pillar of Estonian musical life. Paavo is now director of the Parnu Festival, held in August each year, which brings together the finest Estonian musicians, joined by the cream of European orchestras members of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Orchestre de Paris etc. Paavo Jarvi (recently appointed music director of one of the world's leading formations, the Tonhalle Orchester Zurich) frequents all these instrumentalists regularly, and now works alongside them, 'unpretentiously, in a warm, collegial manner' for a series of highly convivial concerts on the shores of the Baltic 'magical and incredibly appealing', says Die Welt. Paavo Jarvi has now decided to record with this outstanding orchestra. For this first , he has chosen Shostakovich, a key figure of the twentieth century, for both the region and the Jarvi family Paavo used to meet him as a child when the composer came to visit his father Neeme! The programme consists of Symphony no.6 and the Sinfonietta op.110b, a rare arrangement of the String Quartet no.8 by Abram Stasevich for string orchestra and timpani. This first in 2018 will also coincide with the centenary of the independence of the Estonian Republic and a tour that will take the orchestra to several major European cities. Album Tracks 1. I. Largo 2. II. Allegro 3. III. Presto 4. I. Largo 5. II. Allegro Molto 6. III. Allegro 7. IV. Largo 8. V. Largo
