Istvan Kassai - Dances for Piano - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

'Recital' can describe the performance of a poem or other story, which is made special. The language of music has it's own magic, making a musical Recital always a phenomenon of special dramaturgy. It is thanks to Franz Liszt that the Recital - mostly a performance made by heart - was made at home in concert venues. Many ideas can contribute to the motivation for a Recital program. This CD is a journey from baroque times until today with the whole oboe family present accompanied by violin and piano. The main point of a Recital has never been the fame of the composer of the works, but their musical quality and the passion of performance.

Displaying exceptional musical precocity, the young pianist Maria Szymanowska proved a sensation in Warsaw's salons, before moving to Paris where her fame spread. Greatly admired by her contemporaries, who included Beethoven, Cherubini, Field and Tamasek, she later also cast a spell over the elderly Goethe during one of her many long European tours. Alexander Kostritsa received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He is a prizewinner of international piano competitions, including the Premio Rovere d'Oro, the Slavic Music Festival and the Paul Badura-Skoda.
