J.M. Kraus - Der Tod Jesu / Musica Sacra - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

For a performance of Molière's comedy Amphitryon Stockholm Joseph Martin Kraus wrote in 1784 at the special request of the Swedish king Gustav III. During his study trip in Paris an extensive stage music with arias, choirs and ballet interludes. That the wonderful music of the InchSwedish MozartInch even without the verses of Molière did their effect, prove more contemporary adaptations, of which Johann Friedrich Grentzers is certainly the most successful. Grentzer held initially at the original sequence, but he later gave way from purely musical reasons of the original order. The elegant sound result of this process, some of the pieces require two additional clarinets, shows Grentzers skill and sensitivity in dealing with the work of Kraus, as well as the eight to ten instruments. The Amphion Wind Octet an ensemble for the musical realization, which was recently designated by Bayerischer Rundfunk as the virtuoso elite of the 21st century makes.

One of today's most successful Mexican groups, Pesado, introduces their new album, entitled InchNo te lo vas acabarInch along with their first single InchNo valgo nadaInch hitting the airwaves in January. This production contains twelve new tracks produced by group-members Beto Zapata and Pepe Elizondo and songs composed by well-known authors such as Luis InchLouiInch Padilla, Marco A. perez, Oswaldo Villarreal, Felipe de Jesus Jr.. among others.

The ensemble Kammerata Luxembourg has set itself the goal of promoting works by Luxembourgish composers or those living in the Grand Duchy by means of commissioning and performing works at home and abroad, juxtaposing them with the classical chamber-music repertoire. The four composers brought together on this recording are all closely linked to Luxembourg. These five pieces - all written by Luxembourgeois composers within the past decade - draw on the flexible forces of Kammerata Luxembourg to generate a kaleidoscopic range of colors and textures. Though the music is unapologetically modernist in style, it is presented in instrumental combinations remarkable for their delicacy and gentle contours - in the aural equivalent of a walk through autumn woods.
