Jana Horn - Optimism - VINYL LP

The 3rd album from Jana Horn was written in New York and recorded in the Texas desert. Horn went to Sonic Ranch studio with her trio (Jade Guterman - bass / Adam Jones - drums) to record her self-titled record, comprised of 10 sonic landscapes which don't quite sound like they're from anywhere. Past comparisons to Yo La Tengo and Phil Elverum are still apt on InchLoveInch and InchAll in betInch, while spare post-punk rhythms drive InchDesignerInch and InchDon't Think.Inch In 2023 The New Yorker stated InchHorn's work aligns with a fraternity of the lonely that cuts across genres traces of Young Marble Giants, Syd Barrett, and Broadcast all waft through her songs.Inch

A Rothko-esque color field set to music, The Window Is The Dream ventures even deeper into Horn's inner space than her stark, acclaimed debut Optimism, which earned her an 'artist to watch' tag from The Guardian upon it's last year. For her second record, Horn travelled to upstate New York to record with a few musical touchstones in mind the electro-primitivism of the Silver Apples, austere rhythm kings This Heat and The Raincoats' time-bending Odyshape, however the resulting 10 songs are an entry into a world which is very much her own.
