And now, the self-titled debut from self-described Inchboot-gazeInch Houston band Jane Woe. The act brings together pedal steel guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and producer Scott Ayers from grunge-goth legends Pain Teens and more recently Frog Hair, bassist and backing vocalist Carol Sandin Cooley from the city's punk and experimental scene, drummer Kirk Suddreath who working with Ballet Houston and local theater groups creates improvisational recordings, and, fronted by guitarist and vocalist Erin Dance. Hunter S. Thompson wrote InchHouston is a cruel, crazy town on a filthy river in East Texas with no zoning laws and a culture of S*x, money and violence.Inch The innocent and girlish timbre of Dance's voice belie the knowing experience of her words. Cast against the succinct country arrangements and atmospheric playing the band create an uneasy, humid and tuneful sizzle that finds humor and seeks hope in a city with no heart. This limited LP is pressed on translucent red 140gram vinyl.

For more or less a brand-new artist, Fabiana Palladino faces an unusual level of anticipation. The London musician broke out in 2017 as one of the Paul Institute's founding artists after her shadowy, classicist R&B influenced pop reached Jai Paul, who started the tag alongside his brother A. K. Paul. Releasing just three singles in four years, she caught the ear of critics - Pitchfork likened InchMysteryInch to Incha scratch track from a big-budget 80s studio that's been smuggled out on reel-to-reeltapeInch - but Palladino's output remained slight while she worked as an in-demand session musician for the likes of SBTRKT and Jessie Ware, cycling from one tour to the next. This year, she formed part of Jai's band for his live debut (which she also supported), the most wildly awaited performances in years. Following with Jane's first full-length album in 2006, Seven Day Smile is a tongue-in-cheek collection of modern kitchen sink dramas; a wide-ranging set of floating dreampop episodes focusing on bittersweet bedsit tales, beautifully balanced between distant Americana and breathy new folk. Created by Jane featuring collaborations with Doves and Andy Votel, it's a downtempo mirror of the northern post-Britpop era, with impetuous rhythms and super-real commentary. Seven Day Smile is a mix of the unreleased Supersister album sessions and her own home recordings that remains an intensely personal collection of songs.
