Jason Kao Hwang's quartet EDGE is nested in the urban mountains of New York City where he created Stories Before Within, personal tales celebrating both life and loss. Over the past three years EDGE has embraced both past and future with musical offerings resonant with human and animal overtones. Their instruments sing through sharp lines vibrating between history, cultures and genres. In the fall of 2008, EDGE will tour Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo. Celebrating the of Subject, Jason Eckardt's upcoming record on Tzadik, the JACK Quartet, ICE, and soloists Tony Arnold, soprano; Jay Campbell, 'cello; and Jordan Dodson, guitar will perform works off the new record as well as the world premiere of John Zorn's InchAutumn RhythmInch along with his string quartet InchNecronomicon.Inch JACK will also perform Eckardt's InchSubject,Inch a work that confronts Inchenhanced interrogationInch techniques using sound and light, including a complex lighting design conceived by the composer and fully realized for the first time in this performance.
