I bought this soundbar to replace an old jbl cinema sb 400 that the pre amp voltage regulator died on. This is a 5.1 soundbar, but does virtual Dolby atmos and dts. The app is helpful , and is needed to fully get the most out of the bar. It can function as the remote too. The beam steering technology it comes with does a pretty good job of steering sound around my bedroom, making a convincing surround effect. As far as overhead virtual effects, they seem to be present sometimes, but you can only go so far without an actual height or up during drivers. My main system is a 7.3.2 Dolby atmos system, with 7 bed layer speakers, two height channels, and 3 subs. This soundbar can’t compete with that, especially with producing sounds behind and about you, but for what it is it does a very good job. The sub gives plenty of bass, matter of fact, I take it down from level 5 to 3 or 4 depending on what I’m watching, and that’s plenty without being too boomy and muddying the dialogue. I can hear sounds all the way to the side of my ears , 180 degree half bubble, and occasionally above me, but not pinpoint like a traditional system. I highly recommend it though for better then average surround sound and theater experience on a budget.

I recently picked up the JBL Bar 500 Mk2 and it has been a night and day improvement over my TV’s built-in audio. Setup was quick and painless using HDMI eARC, and within minutes the sound was fuller, louder, and far more immersive. The wireless subwoofer is a standout. It delivers deep, punchy bass that you can actually feel, especially during movies, sports, and music with strong low end. Dialogue stays clear even during busy action scenes, which is something my TV speakers struggled with. Dolby Atmos and MultiBeam do a great job creating a wide, room-filling soundstage. While it’s not the same as having dedicated rear speakers, the surround effect is convincing for a soundbar system at this price point. It also integrates smoothly with my TV remote, and the JBL app makes it easy to fine-tune settings. Overall, this soundbar offers excellent value for the price and is a massive upgrade for anyone wanting better sound without dealing with a full home theater setup. I would definitely recommend it.

What living room?! Its now a full on movie theater! The Subwoofer is a game changer and if you have doubts whether you need one or not, trust me you do. My husband has disconnected it sometimes and it makes a big difference! The overall sound quality of the entire system is great, I can feel all the special effects and I can adjust it to our preferences. We love scary movies and our favorites are action movies and the Dolby Atmos projects every sound and vibration in the scenes. I definitely recommend! It looks great too and the wireless subwoofer can be set strategically where we need it to go when we rearrange our living room. My husband built a whole tv console with the bar in the middle!

Wow, was I amazed and stunned with the quality of this JBL sound bar system blew my socks off. watching movies has taken my experience to a whole new level easily comparable to watching a movie at a movie theater the 3-D all the way around surround sound with Dolby Atmos really gives you a complete surround sound and the bass from the sub phenomenal! Highly recommend this sound system being a 10 for sure you won’t be disappointed!

This JBL is the best sound bar and wireless subwoofer I have ever owned and when you turn it up all the way it don’t distorted and the sound is still crystal clear. I will never own anything else because JBL has brok the mold with this one. I would have to give it a 100 stars if it was possible.

Great speaker! I can actually hear people speaking when watching movies or TV shows. Good balance, great sound. Easy to hook up. I used the eARC option.

It’s good, the only fault is that it keep disconnected from Bluetooth other than that a place very good

I purchased this set up after having a terrible experience with a Samsung soundar and have only had it 60 days but so it is great! Pro's Easy to set up Great sound Great bass response Pairs with tv remote easily for volume control Con's Cannot adjust anything through the remote-only the app App is a little quirky and not much adjustability Overall I am pleased with this set up and would recommend and buy again. Only bad thing was when I went to the local Best Buy store, the sales person that walked up to help me was wearing a Sony shirt and only wanted to discuss Sony products. When I asked him about other brands, he qould not discuss them and quickly switched back to Sony sales mode. I have been in sales all my life but you dont start the sales process at the top of line model, especially if you are told what a budget is. As i milled around looking at other brands by myself, another associate came over and gave me his honest opinion of the comparison of the Sony model to the JBL and said he'd recommend the JBL hands down. I bought it and very happy with it.

I was debating between this and a traditional home theater system with rear speakers for a 20 x 17 room. After looking at specs, talking to staff and comparing in-store, I went with this one. Kids love the deep rumble of the subwoofer, and the smart sound tech still gives surround sound coverage. I have no regrets! Music, games, and movies are all very immersive. This gets LOUD!!

I rarely ever post a review. So take it for what it’s worth. I appreciated reviews I’d read on this equipment. I had purchased another set that included rear speakers that were indicated as wireless which they were. However, each required being plugged in to work. I returned them. This was the next setup I tried. WOW! I can’t adequately describe the difference from the Sony setup I had. It had a center channel, two front and two rear wired speakers and decent woofer. All that was good but I’d become tired of all the wires. What’s nice too is that my TV is in the corner viewable from the dining room on the left of the “L” and great room on the right. Placing speakers was a challenge at best. There is a button to press on the remote for this equipment that causes the soundbar to calculate the shape of the viewing area. I know that it worked as the sound difference from out of the box to after that brief process was amazing. In every area you feel like the sound is for you only. I recommend this system to anyone who asks. I’ve heard others that I know were more expensive that don’t compare. When my 27 yr old son came over and saw that I had updated my sound system he questioned why. After he heard it, he kept saying he couldn’t believe it. So much better than his and what mine was. Also, while I don’t want to disturb my neighbors, higher volume doesn’t distort and you can feel the base, even at lower volumes. I am frequently amazed over the sound I was missing previously, even commercials! I wear hearing aids. Often have difficulty hearing voice over the so called background music, especially in movies. That was an important part of my decision to buy. Not disappointed about that either. SO MUCH BETTER!!! Like others, I am beyond satisfied.

I've been very impressed with the JBL BAR500MK2. The setup was quick and easy, and the sound quality is outstanding. Dialogue is clear, movies sound immersive with Dolby Atmos, and the wireless subwoofer adds deep, powerful bass without being overwhelming. Music also sounds fantastic with rich, balanced audio. The JBL BAR500MK2 delivers excellent sound quality with strong bass response. The Dolby Atmos adds a nice immersive effect, and the wireless subwoofer really fills the room without overpowering it. The only issue I’ve noticed is that the soundbar doesn’t always turn on automatically when the TV is powered on. It may just require tweaking a setting, but it’s worth mentioning. Other than that, this is a solid, high-quality product that I’m very happy with.

The JBL Sound Bar installed and configured easily and worked seamlessly with a Samsung OLED Smart TV. The buttons on the sound bar remote are not all intuitive, but we got things set up the way we wanted in a relatively short time. I highly recommend this product.
