Fred Waring was a remarkable and high-profile personality in American popular music over many decades, becoming famous during the 1940s and '50s for his radio and TV shows which brought him the accolade of being The Man Who Taught America How to Sing. However, he began his career as a trombonist and bandleader performing hot dance music in the early 20s, and with his brother Thomas formed Waring's Pennsylvanians, whose recordings for Victor over the ensuing decade into the 1930s became hugely popular in the era often called The Roaring Twenties, before Waring's band abruptly stopped recording in 1932. Although there were no record sales charts in those days, there were sheet music and other listings, which have been analysed by researchers to produce chart listings for records. This great-value 46-track 2-CD set consists entirely of recordings by Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians which feature in Top 15 positions in those chart analyses, and it comprises most of their listed hits. It includes early recordings of some of the songs from the era which became classics over the years, and features the No. 1s Sleep, Memory Lane, Laugh, Clown, Laugh!, Little White Lies and I Found a Million Dollar Baby. It's a hugely evocative musical snapshot of a remarkable era in popular music as it became a mass market phenomenon.

Internationally renowned soprano Ekaterina Siurina, in her first album for Delos, presents a choice array of beautifully sung French and Italian opera arias by Gustave Charpentier, Charles Gounod, Georges Bizet, Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi. Siurina's husband, acclaimed tenor Charles Castronovo, joins her in famous duets from Gounod's Roméo et Juliette and Puccini's La bohème. Sensitive and sonorous orchestral support comes courtesy of the Kaunas City Symphony orchestra under the baton of GRAMMY-nominated conductor Constantine Orbelian. One of the leading sopranos of her generation, Ekaterina Siurina performs at many of the top opera houses across the world. Ekaterina studied at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts, in Moscow and became a soloist with the Municipal Moscow Theater, Novaya Opera, where she made her professional debut as Gilda in Rigoletto singing opposite the world-renowned baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky. She was also a prize winner of the Rimsky-Korsakov competition in St. Petersburg, and of the Elena Obraztsova Competition.

Two years on from the sad and untimely passing of Ewan Robertson aka Offshore, his tag Big Dada can announce the of a last album from the Aberdonian musician and designer. The tracks for the new record, 'Offshore' were all more or less completed before his death in 2012. His family, his partner and the tag have pieced the album together as close to his original intentions as they could manage, to create a suite of music which in it's openness, beauty, humor and joyfulness, both hints at what Ewan could have gone on to achieve, and celebrates what a unique and lovely human being and musician he was. In addition, artists including Ikonika, Amon Tobin, Blue Daisy, Slugabed, Mamiko Moto, Lockah and Enchante have all contributed remixes and expect videos and photographs from long time collaborators. The sadness felt by those who knew and loved Ewan is still very real, but this record is a chance to celebrate what a unique and talented individual he was.
