Jeffrey Halford - Rainmaker - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2019 . 'Atmospheric, funky, rustic, and raw this is narrative Americana at it's finest; poetic story songs delivered with the voice of authenticity, sitting atop a moody bed of dirty slide guitars, organic drums, and swampy bass. Subtle touches of violin, piano, and lap steel adorn a song cycle that chronicles the westbound adventures of two mythic brothers in an equally mythic America. Jeffrey Halford, co-writer Don Zimmer and Adam Rossi created something so many strive for, and yet too few achieve a genuine Americana concept album that is simultaneously devoid of pretension, and richly authentic. If Cormac McCarthy played guitar, he'd have a regular slot at The Sad Cafe, and folks would come from miles around to hear him sing 'The Ballad of Ambrose and Cyrus.'

On Jeff Rosenstock's new album, HELLMODE, the spontaneous DIY trailblazer returns with the most confident & cohesive album of his career. Recorded at EastWest Studios with Grammy nominated engineer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Joyce Manor) and captured live to tape in the same room where albums like Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and Toxicity were recorded, HELLMODE finds Rosenstock holding nothing back. The studio's infamous natural tones are juxtaposed with echo chambers used on Pet Sounds, calling to mind the mixture of despair and clear-eyed hope heard throughout the record. The album features massive pop gems like InchFUTURE IS DUMB,Inch InchDOUBT,Inch and InchLIKED U BETTER,Inch as well as softer songs such as InchHEALMODE,Inch showcasing an intimate, immediate sound. Rosenstock has built his career on an uncompromising commitment to stay true to his beliefs. He's toured the globe countless times and played to thousands of dedicated fans.
