Q: lit when turned off but hot? Indicator light ON when in use and OFF when not ? GRIDDLE?
A: This is a gas cooktop. No indicator lights like in some induction smooth cooktops. This is also not like the original Jenn-Air modular setup. I have a griddle and use it often but place it on top of the rack over two burners and works perfectly. This is probably my favorite down draft cooktop and I have had 3 different models and manufacturers in the past. If you like cooking with gas and easy to clean... this would be a great choice

Not worth it. JennAir isn't top quality they claim
Product (stainless steel) what we saw at the store and online in the pictures is not what was delivered. Lettering is barely visible on the stainless steel model. The granite counters around get very hot after cooking. We thought it was a defect with the unit regarding faint lettering and ordered the same as replacement. But when the replacement came in, we had the person open the box before installation and found the lettering is also faint at which point the installation person (on the 2nd vist) mentioned that he has installed a bunch of these and the lettering is faint in the stainless steel models. With the installation person who installed it first had mentioned it so we could order a black model. As counter tops were getting very hot, when i ordered the replacement, i mentioned about the heat transferring to counters and bestbuy told me they will instruct the installation person to install a tape/foam seal between the cooktop and the granite counters to reduce heat transfer but installation person said that they recieved no such instructions from bestbuy. If they hadn't hauled away our old GE Profile downdraft cooktop, we would have just cancelled it. JennAir products aren't what they claim and bestbuy experience hasn't been good so far. On the exhaust fan, even at the lowest level, it pulls the flame away and causes uneven cooking. Attaching a couple of pics on the lettering. Knobs were bent (which the installation person tried to straighten) and I was told it is a manufacturing defect. We were told by sales person that JennAir is better than KitchenAid (same exact model) but at a bit higher price but we don't agree with what we have seen so far.

Knobs have manufacturer defect!
The first one delivered had a major flaw with the knobs. All were off center from the base. I had to go into Best Buy to get help because their automated phone system wouldn’t put me through to the store. It kept routing me to customer service, who couldn’t help me. Best Buy did swap with a new one at no charge. Waited 2 weeks for another to be swapped out. I kept the 2nd one even though one of the knobs was still off center. Jenn-Air needs to improve their quality control as this was a manufacturing defect when these were put together in the factory. I needed the 30” with downdraft and couldn’t find another brand that had the brass burners, otherwise I would have ordered a different brand. An expensive product that should match with high quality but didn’t.

JennAir Gas top
Fantastic stove top by JennAir. Last one lasted 20+ years. Burners work great and exhaust fan is incredible. Easy to install fit into exiting opening in my granite counter top. Will not be disappointed. Looks great/sexy in the kitchen
