About This Item

A Note from Jennifer I was born into a large family of singers and dancers, and grew up in the small and amazingly cultured town of Berea, Kentucky. When I was little, I thought that everyone's family enjoyed singing and playing together in the evenings after dinner, and that all people everywhere got together and danced folk dances on the weekends. I was in elementary school when I realized how wrong I was, and I decided then that I would have to share my experience with people, to help them recognize that those simple pleasures of spending time with family and enjoying the Arts are really the things that matter most in our lives. I was fortunate to have a family that supported my decision to go into music full-time, and was able to my first recording while I was still a student at Berea College, in 1991. Here I am now, eight recordings and twelve years later, enjoying life as a full-time performer with concerts at home and abroad, and using some of my time to lead workshops for students in music and dance through various Arts Councils. Adults need to hear the music of their heritage, and to be encouraged to celebrate their roots, and young people need to be reminded that it is not only OK, but it's pretty cool to be familiar with the traditions of their ancestors. I hope that by presenting the music of my people in a professional and authentic way, I can inspire others to celebrate their own heritage, in their own way. -When she's not out entertaining or teaching Jennifer stays home with her husband, Alfredo, daughters, Lydia and Isabel and their Jack Russell, Opie, in their country home in Kentucky. Baby Isabel, born August 2003 is a joy to her family!-. Album Tracks 1. Star of the County Down 2. I Will Give My Love An Apple 3. Riddle Song 4. Dog and Gun 5. Who'll Buy My Roses 6. Greensleeves 7. Danny Boy 8. Black Is the Color 9. Cumberland
