Jerry Fuller - Double Life - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Jerry Fuller's Successes As A Songwriter, Producer And A&R Guru Between The 1960s And 1990s Were So Spectacular, They Virtually Expunged His Early Incarnation As A Singer From His Timeline. Yet In The Late 50s And Early 60s, Whilst Perfecting Those Songwriting Skills, He Cut A Series Of Records That Have More Than Stood The Test Of Time, A Couple Of Which Dented The US Charts. This Compilation Presents The Very Best Of Fuller's Own Recording Career, Between 1958 And 1962, Including His Biggest Hit, A Rockin' Revival Of 'Tennessee Waltz', A Huge Seller In 1959. He Also Recorded With Other Artists, E.G. Diane Maxwell, A Rare-As-Unicorns-Manure Fuller Bros Single (Recorded With His Brother, Bill), And The Trophies' 45s (With Bandmates Dave Burgess, Glen Campbell And Ricky Nelson). Several Of These Sides Are Impossible To Find Elsewhere On CD, While A Number Are Making Their Digital Debut.

The supernatural drifts of the compositions brought together in this recording, served by the power and playing technique of Severine Ballon, reveal unexpected facets of expressiveness in the contemporary cello. Fully engaged in the renewal of its repertoire, Severine Ballon especially favors conversing and working with the composers, in the intimacy of the 'sound factory'. Having initiated numerous creations to which this recital admirably bears witness, here she offers us a tailor-made program in the heart of the compositional process. Once again, what could have been likened to risk-taking allows Severine Ballon to affirm, forcefully and with conviction, her artistic identity, her commitment and her very particular place in the world of the contemporary cello.
