Jlin - Black Origami - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Jlin's third album 'Akoma' sets a new benchmark in her personal road map, not only since the album features guest appearances from Björk, Philip Glass and Kronos Quartet but for her continued sonic persistence and resistance. Jlin's detailed and meticulous exploration of rhythm's outer reaches has made her one of the most distinctive and recognisable voices within the electronic and classical music worlds. 'Akoma' is her next step - all these paths have led to this. We encourage you to tune in.1. Borealis (ft. Björk)2. Speed Of Darkness3. Summon4. Iris5. Open Canvas6. Challenge (To Be Continued II)7. By now, how Jlin went from working in a steel factory in Gary, Indiana to being one of the most widely appreciated electronic musicians is well known. Black Origami was one of the most reviewed and lauded albums last year. She has toured constantly since it's May 2017 and despite being involved in a wide range of projects, still manages to find a balance and do some personal healing and growing. Here we are over a year later with Autobiography, the score for her collaboration with renowned British choreographer Wayne McGregor. This isn't technically her third album (that's due to arrive in 2019 or 2020), but the soundtrack stands up on it's own with all the emotional peaks and troughs of a well-sequenced longplayer. Making music for dance is the fulfillment of one of Jlin's lifelong dreams and Autobiography is a highlight in her evolving and growing career.

Jlin's Pulitzer Prize nominated 'Perspective' is a suite of compositions written for Chicago- based, Grammy-winning percussion ensemble Third Coast Percussion who have been performing it live for the last couple of years.Jlin is excited to the original electronic versions of these works which TCP based their scores on. The results often sound more stark and alien than the acoustic performances let on.The CD includes four previously vinyl-only bonus tracks from 2021's Embryo EP.1. Paradigm2. Obscure3.
