About this product
2012 compilation by influential writer and humorist John Dowie, acclaimed by many as Britain's first 'alternative comedian', and an unlikely early signing to Factory Records. Feted by Tony Wilson of Factory as a new wave Lenny Bruce, Dowie went on to record with Martin Hannett and Alberto y Lost Trios Paranoia's (all featured here), before moving on to stage and television work, and finally retiring from stand-up in 1991. 'The most influential comedian you've never heard of,' offers Dave Cohen. 'John Dowie performed art house proto Alterative Comedy before it even had a name,' adds Stewart Lee. 'He was tired of it by the time the tropes he's established became commonplace, and then he just sort of slipped away.' This remastered compilation CD includes all tracks from the original singles released between 1977 and 1981, as well as unreleased demos recorded with the Smirks, Albertos and Fabulous Poodles, plus live material recorded in 1985. The booklet features detailed liner notes by Stewart Lee, Dave Cohen and James Nice, plus cover art by Ralph Steadman.

Somehow, condemned to the underworld/whateverworld, they sustained the light for millennia/millennials. Keeping their Ka-Ba intact and entire they always knew the Power and thePleasure of the Sun God/Some Guy would grant (though they never fill out the forms) them so-called Eternal Creativity (i.e., QQreativity) if they could just complete the journey and Rise Above! Limited white colored vinyl LP pressing. But Here We Are is the 2023 album from Foo Fighters, and marks the bands return after a year of staggering losses, personal introspection and bittersweet remembrances. A brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters have endured recently, But Here We Are is a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family. Courageous, damaged and unflinchingly authentic, the album opens with InchRescued,Inch the first of 10 songs that run the emotional gamut from rage and sorrow to serenity and acceptance, and myriad points in between. But Here We Are is in nearly equal measure the 11th Foo Fighters album and the first chapter of the band's new life. Sonically channeling the naiveté of Foo Fighters' 1995 debut, informed by decades of maturity and depth, But Here We Are is the sound of brothers finding refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that was as therapeutic as it was about a continuation of life.
