Jonathan Y - Bettina 13.37" Glass/Metal LED Pendant, Oil Rubbed Bronze/Clear - Oil-Rubbed Bronze

The glass pendant first became popular around the turn of the century, when homes were switching from gas lighting (which required glass shades) to electric. The ability to show wealth by exposing your bulbs, and therefore your trendy new electricity, was one of the first home decor trends in lighting. Still as relevant today as then, this styles evokes the classic though it features upgrades like chromed metal, adjustable hanging lengths, and LED compatibility -- so you rarely have to get on the ladder to change the bulb.

Though originally used in pharmacies because of their simple upkeep -- the glass is simple to dust, bulbs easily changed from removing the shade from below -- this pendant's silhouette is perhaps most famously known by students of the 1950s as "the schoolhouse pendant" thanks to a large government order that made this the official light of chemistry labs until the mid-70s when fluorescents were installed (forgive them!). We took inspiration from the original -- gracious curves, simple upkeep, and adjustable drop -- because if there is one thing we have learned, it's that great design never goes out of style.

We love the combination of a striking black body and the glass shade in this pendant--a classic piece suitable for any style. With an adjustable drop, it can also look semi-custom, adjusting to your ceiling height. Perfectly suited for highly trafficked areas like kitchens and foyers.
