Jupiter & Okwess - Na Kozonga - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Icebreaker - Terminal Velocity [COMPACT DISCS] date 04/26/2011

With their second album Kin Sonic, Jupiter and Okwess transcend the Congo's unexplored musical heritage and dive into a pool of modernity. We're invited to savour his latest recipe, the Okwess ('food' in the Kibunda language) which is the fruit of all the encounters and influences he has absorbed during his many journeys around the world. It's a recipe based on perfect alchemy, enriched by contributions from Damon Albarn of Blur and Gorillaz, violinist Warren Ellis of Nick Cave's Bad Seeds and Robert del Naja, aka '3D', of Massive Attack.

Ndongo Lô is one of the latest revelations on the Senegalese music scene. A latecomer to the music scene, and despite a difficult childhood, he very quickly caught the public's attention thanks to his personality as a good man attached to values such as love, friendship, family and sharing. He was a man inhabited by his art, very respectful of his public. When his health declined, he was determined to keep to his commitments and go the distance for those who came to see him. He was a modest man with a big heart, who was not motivated by money; all that mattered was his love of music. His life was short but intense. Having embodied InchpikinityInch like no other, with his own sensibility, Ndongo Lô deserved a tribute book retracing his life to offer him as a model to the many young people who sink into despair. However, since his death in 2005, no respectable work had been produced on the career of this star of Senegalese music. That's why La face cachée de Ndongo Lô is packed with exclusive information drawn from the testimonies of people close to the artist during his lifetime.
