About this product
The infamous Icelandic low is defined as a large and persistent atmospheric low-pressure centre that forms between Iceland and Greenland and is often the cause of strong winter winds over the North Atlantic. Katla artistically translate this meteorological depression into dark doom-infused metal and deep musical emotion. An urgent sense of darkness and inner turmoil drives InchAllt þetta helvítis myrkurInch (InchAll this damn darknessInch), the second full-length of the Icelandic duo. The soul crushing heaviness fueling this record makes Katla's melancholic debut album InchMó?urástinInch appear nearly light-hearted by comparison. Some of this album's core composition reach back in time for more than a decade and were born out of spontaneous rehearsal room-sessions that were only now given final shape. The result is a cinematic musical stream of consciousness, in which many of the songs intertwine and flow into each other. Katla are the conceptual and musical brainchild of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Einar Thorberg Gu?mundsson (FORTÍÐ, POTENTIAM) and former SÓLSTAFIR-drummer and visual artist Gu?mundur Óli Pálmason. The duo deliberately took their name from one of the most active and feared Icelandic volcanoes to manifest that the external part of their inspiration relates to the islands ever-changing landscapes and subpolar climate. InchThe outer landscapes are as important to us as the inner darknessInch, tells Einar. InchKatla is as much a product of our environment as derived from our state of mind.Inch Katla take their art very personally even beyond musical aspects. Cover art, photography, and the handwritten booklet - everything about InchAllt þetta helvítis myrkurInch has either been created by the duo or by their relatives and close friends. InchWe like to keep things in the familyInch, Gu?mundur points out. InchEverything is homemade yet up to our high

Digipak. 2017 . Katla is an Icelandic band featuring ex-Sólstafir drummer and visual artist Guðmundur Óli Pálmason and singer/multi-instrumentalist Einar Thorberg Guðmundsson (Fortíð, Potentiam). Named in tribute to one of Iceland's greatest active volcanos, Katla creates powerful, panoramic music where shimmering guitars, crushing melodies and atmospheric density meet dark, entrancing power. Katla's debut album, InchMóðurástinInch, shines a spotlight on the band's hook-heavy, horizon-stretching sound. The lyrics tell tales of living in a country of contrasts; a land where fire and ice co-exist and dark winters are offset by the summer's midnight sun. Iceland a country where insular existence has spurred a rich and vibrant culture. InchMóðurástinInch, Icelandic for (a) Mother's Love, might seem like a strange title for a metal album, but Katla dares to be different. What on Earth is stronger than a mother's love? Nothing. Not hate, not lust, not greed. Katla has shaped a towering sound sharpened by experience and forged for fans of heavy, atmospheric music. It is time for Katla to erupt again!

Danish doom magicians Katla bring a new dimension of Doom with their new album Scandinavian Pain - the end of the world will be heralded on March 21, 2025 via Napalm Records! Their powerful brew of post-rock, sludge and progressive doom is characterized by intense, atmospheric sounds in long, expansive tracks. Scandinavian Pain deals with dark themes such as depression, shame, greed and guilt. The trio tells stories of the end of the world and religious manipulation, even reaching back to the colonial era. On the cover, which is stylistically reminiscent of early black metal, the black dog is an atmospheric symbol of melancholy. This motif comes from the English writer and poet Dr. Samuel Johnson. In the folklore of his homeland, the dog is regarded as the bearer of bad omens, a demon that lurks in the night and spreads darkness and terror wherever it roams - the dog from hell, just as dark and groovy as the music of Katla.

What to do when you like rock and doom born from the desert but your surroundings offer anything but arid lands? BESVÄRJELSEN found an impressive answer in the grim forests of their homeland in Dalarna, Sweden. Having grown up in the far north at the meeting grounds of ancient Norse and Finnish cultures amongst echoes of runes and gods, shamans and spirits, the spellbinding five-piece crafted their name from the Swedish word for InchconjuringInch while drawing heavy inspiration from local lore, mysticism, and the dark, old musical traditions. Yet BESVÄRJELSEN are anything but another InchpaganInch outfit longing for a time that never was. With it's wistful melodies and towering riff-power their sophomore full-length InchAtlasInch represents a logical step along the course that BESVÄRJELSEN charted from the start. The band was co-founded by guitarists and vocalists Andreas Baier and Staffan Stensland Vinrot in 2014 with a clear vision to channel the spirit and traditions of the vast Dalarna forests, a region otherwise famous for it's painted wooden horses, into contemporary heavy music. Once vocalist Lea Amling Alazam arrived with a fiery passion for punk and stoner rock that had begun at the local skate park when she was just counting 13 years, Andreas and Staffan happily relegated their shared vocal duties to a supporting role - an easy choice as Lea's distinctive voice summoned the intimacy and charisma of singers like NINA SIMONE or AMY WINEHOUSE. BESVÄRJELSEN released their debut EP InchVillfarelserInch in 2015, which was followed quickly by the InchExilInch EP in 2016. The Swedes' debut full-length InchVallmoInch hit the streets of Stockholm and elsewhere in 2018. The album merged crushing riffs and storming drums with increasingly sophisticated melodies and thoughtful themes. With the mini-album InchFrostInch, BESVÄRJELSEN intended to crush stages all over Europ
