About this product
Written and recorded in late 2021 after a self-prescribed period of down time spent walking, going on daily cold water swims and Inchjust chillaxing massivelyInch, even the credits on Sound of the Morning Katy J Pearson professes a new thirst for experimentation. Joining Return (2020) producer Ali Chant on desk duties this time was Speedy Wunderground head honcho Dan Carey, who worked on some of the album's grittier tracks. It all makes for a record that's increasingly unafraid to explore life's darker parts, but that does so with an openness that's full of light. As an artist who professes to Inchalways strive for the bittersweetness of thingsInch, Sound of the Morning does just that, taking the listener's hand and guiding them through the good and the bad, like the musical equivalent of an arm around the shoulder. InchI want people to feel things with my music, but I don't want to cause my listener too much trauma,Inch she notes with a cheeky glint. May the wind be always at your back chants Katy J Pearson in the opening seconds of her third solo record. Indicative of a shift in heart and sound, it fires the starting pistol for an album on which Pearson is exercising her own autonomy in life, in love, and in the recording studio. Following 2020's Return and 2022's Sound of the Morning, on Someday, Now Pearson's signature acoustic-led, sweetly-voiced singer-songwriter fare is transmuted through the desk of electronic producer Nathan Jenkins, aka Bullion (Carly Rae Jepsen, Ben Howard, Nilüfer Yanya). It showcases her natural knack for a hook, presenting ten glistening tracks which are pop by nature, rather than design or demand. InchI've found my way back to myselfInch, she summarizes. Where her previous records were made with a slower, more piecemeal approach, Someday, Now was rigorously written and rehearsed and then laid down over a couple weeks at Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire. The band is composed of Heavenly tag-mates Huw Evans and Davey Newington, along with fellow Broadside Hacks collaborator Joel Burton. Album Tracks 1. Those Goodbyes 2. Save Me 3. It's Mine Now 4.
