About this product

Keeley Forsyth's 2020 debut album found an elemental voice ringing out from beneath the rubble. Understated but devastating, Debris' success led to a transformation as the songs were brought to the stage. An innate performer, Forsyth found herself channelling something she hadn't yet fully come to understand, and it was here that the voice found on Debris began to probe outwards and discover a physical form. It's a form that fully takes shape on her second album Limbs.Anyone who saw Forsyth perform in the brief window after Debris was released and before shows ground to a halt can testify to the show's power. In pin-drop silence, enraptured audiences watched as Forsyth inhabited a new body. No stranger to portraying characters in her career as an actor, this was something different. Limbs is a record of reckoning with that change. After the initial purge of Debris, those feelings of trauma and fear remain but there's also a life to live. InchSave me from the chair where sadness lies,Inch she sings on opener 'Fires', wrestling the need to be creative within the routine of daily life. Where Debris was composed and recorded in close proximity to instrumentalist and arranger Matthew Bourne, Limbs deploys a more expansive palette. With Forsyth at the centre, collaborator Ross Downes acts as another limb, remotely producing the pulses and drones which feed back into the voice. Bourne this time is enlisted to InchBring some of the soil of DebrisInch into Limbs. The result is clear and more spacious. If Debris sounded like it was buried under the earth - Forsyth's voice repressed and breathless - Limbs brings some of that live presence.1. Fires2. Bring Me Water3. Limbs 4. Land Animal 5. Blindfolded 6. Wash7. Silence8. I Stand Alone

Winchester College Chapel Choir Onyx Brass Cunningham Ionascu - Winter's Night - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The addition of a brass ensemble to Christmas concerts and carol services, combining with the more traditional sounds of choir and organ, has become increasingly popular in recent years. This recording brings together a number of works for the specific forces of choir, brass quintet, organ and percussion, some of which have been arranged specially for this . Interspersed amongst these works are a selection of popular Christmas carols which have formed and integral part of Winchester College Chapel Choir's core repertoire for many years. Winchester College was founded by William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester, in 1382, and Winchester College Quiristers have for over 625 years sung services in Winchester College Chapel. In modem times they have formed a choir renowned for it's excellence. Having celebrated it's 25th anniversary in the 2017-18 season, Onyx Brass continues to be the leading light in establishing the brass quintet as a medium for serious chamber music, inspired by the pioneering early years of the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble. To this end, the group has commissioned and performed the world premières of over 200 new works, with many more in the pipeline for performance and recording.

Keeley Forsyth - Debris - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The songs comprising Keeley Forsyth's debut, are, she states simply, Inchlike blocks of metal that drop from the skyInch. Minimal arrangements place that elemental voice front and centre. Nerves are quietly frayed over it's running time; an intimate document of personal change, we're held in limbo until the final note is left to ring. Debris explores the darker corners of domestic life, balancing the need to create with the responsibilities that come with a family, a partner and a career. Seismic ruptures behind closed doors. InchThere was a lot going on in my life that was heavy and hard,Inch she adds. InchSongs were made under that moment.Inch Born and raised in Oldham in the north-west of England, Forsyth first made her name as an actor. Her enigmatic voice is so indelible even she is sometimes provoked to refer to it as a third person, like the characters she's inhabited as an actor, this time populating songs sharing tales of the high and low tides, of freedom and entrapment, and of hard-won triumphs. InchThey've been in my mind for a while,Inch she concludes. InchI have sung them to my children, and at home alone, and making this album has been an opportunity for me to discover the voice and being who sings these songs. It has changed me, and will continue to. I recognise my life again.Inch1. Debris2. Black Bull3. It's Raining 4. Look To Yourself5. Lost6. Butterfly7. Large Oak8. Start Again

Limb - Terminal - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

500 only gatefold deluxe 180 gram LP, transparent white and purple vinyl + DL. 'Terminal' follows hot on the heels of Limb's self-titled debut of 2014 and cranks up the sonics, mashes the grooves, and ups the filth quotient. With legendary extreme metal producer Russ Russell on board (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir, Evile...) they've created a monolithic statement of intent. 'Terminal' is a down-tuned and dirty barrage of monumental riffs. The guitars are all rolling fuzz. The bass is low, warm and weighty. The drums pound, and vocalist Rob Hoey's roar resounds through it all. This album is guaranteed to blow your ears, speakers, and minds. Recognising Limb's love of both stoner dirge and glam stomp, Russ Russell has described the band's sound as 'GoatSlade', and we can see why. Buried in the dirt is a cosmic boogie, which pays more than a nod to the decade of stacked boots without ever feeling retro.
