When it comes to physical technology, LS50 Wireless II takes its lead from KEF’s LS50 Meta passive loudspeakers. A truly revolutionary tool in the KEF acoustic armoury, Metamaterial Absorption Technology1 (MAT) is a highly complex maze-like structure, where each of the intricate channels efficiently absorbs a specific frequency. When combined, the channels act as an acoustic black hole, absorbing 99% of the unwanted sound that comes from the rear of the tweeter, eliminating the resulting distortion and providing a purer, more natural sound.
Q: How does the Metamaterial Absorption Technology work in the speakers?
A: Metamaterial Absorption Technology uses a complex maze-like structure with channels that absorb specific sound frequencies. These channels act as an acoustic black hole, absorbing 99% of unwanted sound coming from the rear of the tweeter. This eliminates distortion and provides a purer, more natural sound.
Q: What type of wireless connectivity does the speaker offer?
A: This speaker offers Bluetooth wireless connectivity.
Q: What is the purpose of the acoustic black hole in the speakers?
A: The acoustic black hole absorbs unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter. This eliminates distortion and provides a purer, more natural sound.
Q: What are the dimensions of the speakers?
A: The LS50 Wireless II speakers have a height of 18 inches, a width of 24 inches, and a depth of 17 inches.
Q: Why are the speakers considered a revolutionary tool in the KEF acoustic armoury?
A: The speakers are considered revolutionary because they utilize Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), a complex structure that acts as an acoustic black hole. This technology absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter, eliminating distortion and delivering a purer, more natural sound.
Q: Do these speakers support Pandora streaming?
A: The short answer is yes. Pandora doesn't have a dedicated streaming protocol like some services, so there's no special compatibility required. You can use your phone or tablet's built-in Google Cast or AirPlay function to stream to the LS50W2. You can also use Bluetooth, but the quality will be lower so I don't recommend that.
A: One of the speaker is primary and other is secondary, Connection is needed between them for secondary speaker to play music. There are two ways to connect them 1. Interconnect cable (included) 2. Wireless I am using wireless connection which is working good. All your source inputs go into the primary speaker, like HDMI ARC from TV. etc.. These are not plugged into secondary speaker. Each speaker needs to be plugged into power socket.
A: KEF LS50 are passive speakers, which means they need to be connected to an amplifier or AV receiver. LS50 Wireless II are active speakers, they have built in amplifiers and they have wireless capability. I have LS50 Wireless II and am very happy with their performance.
