About this product

Kendra is excited to a new 45, featuring a special a bonus track written and recorded during the InchI Am What I'm Waiting For' sessions, as well as a new 45-edit of her instant classic 'Birthday Song.'The A-side 'Fine Right Here,' the bonus cut from Kendra Morris's brand new LP 'I Am What I'm Waiting For' (which has received incredible support from the likes of Rolling Stone France, KCRW, WNYC, Flood Magazine, and countless others), takes a look into the deeply introverted side of Kendra. InchThis song is about being ok just sitting inside and missing the party,Inch Kendra explains. InchIt's the antithesis to FOMO.Inch Written to accompany a rainy day, the song feels like you're being enveloped in a hug. Sonically, the track tips it's hat to Ethiopian Jazz and soul of the 70s, like Rose Royce and the Delfonics. The warm vibraphone, sturdy bass line, and vocal reverb create a layered tapestry of sound that wraps around your shoulders and drifts into your ears. The new 45-edit of 'Birthday Song' is for the DJs. It's an upbeat and funky jubilant jam that's ready and waiting to take the place of outdated standards. Both tracks were co-written and produced by Torbitt Schwartz (AKA Little Shalimar) of Run the Jewels, 'Fine Right Here' is a welcome departure to the upbeat nature of 'I Am What I'm Waiting For' whereas 'Birthday Song' is set to be a celebratory go-to.

Kendra Morris - This Life - 7-INCH SINGLE [7 inch Vinyl Disc]

Kendra Morris recalls singers who straddled soul and rock during the early '70s, such as Ruth Copeland and Chaka Khan. After touring with Dennis Coffey and releasing singles that she did with collaborator Jeremy Page including InchConcrete Waves,Inch with b-side remixed by DJ Premier, Morris released the album Banshee (2012). In 2013, Morris returned with the covers album Mockingbird, with both Banshee and Mockingbird garnering successful followings and impressive film/tv placements. Morris also worked on a project-band with friends Scarlett Johansson, Julia Haltigan and Holly Miranda. With Este Haim joining on drums, they released one single, InchCandyInch and a cover of InchBizarre Love TriangleInch for AMFARs The Time Is Now record. Now presenting her debut 45 on Karma Chief Records, a division of Colemine Records, Kendra showcases a textured and contemporary take on R&B, all while retaining the old-school flavor. The A side track 'This Life' is a 70's soul super dive carrying you through fuzzy guitars, rich harmonies and straight into the old Vegas casinos of the main strip. Who We Are, the B side, counters the upbeat side A with it's epic introspective look at the human psyche. Combining Kendra's wide vocal range and a partnership of solid drum and thick bass, 'Who We Are' provides the perfect backdrop for it's carefully-threaded lyrics.

Druid - Toward The Sun - Limited 180-Gram Yellow & Orange Colored Vinyl - VINYL LP

In the hot summer month of 1975 when Toward The Sun was released, Druid were a young band on a roll with the patronage of DJ Bob Harris [producer of the album] and British music paper the Melody Maker [whose competition they had recently won]. Druid's debut album occupies the kind of AOR space that some of the major Prog bands would turn to during the late 70s. Laced with acoustic guitars, 'flutes' and rich keyboards, neatly wrapped in a Symphonic Prog overcoat of more adventurous instrumental passages. In other words, Toward The Sun is a fairly generic example of mainstream Prog from the later 70s. The songwriting is first class with some lovely tunes and lyrics which 'sound right'. There is a common theme spread throughout the album - dreams and dreaming from the Inchlong nights' dreamsInch of opener Voices to Shangri-La Inchthere I'll find my dreams, and some day I'll return when the world has changedInch. All instruments meld together quite naturally to produce a full and balanced sound, full of light and shade. Toward The Sun is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on yellow & orange marbled coloured vinyl and contains an insert.
