The Kensington EQ Adjustable Aluminum Laptop Stand raises a notebook off the desk to a more comfortable viewing height while opening up airflow underneath the chassis to help keep it cool during long work sessions. Machined from aluminum and finished in black, the stand supports laptops from 10 to 17 inches and holds up to 6.6 pounds, covering everything from compact ultrabooks to larger 17 inch workstations. The defining feature is the height adjustment, which raises the rear of the stand by up to 9.92 inches, letting the screen reach closer to eye level and reducing the neck strain that comes from looking down at a laptop sitting flat on a desk. Nonslip silicone feet on both the base and the contact points that meet the laptop keep the notebook from sliding while typing, even at steeper angles. When not in use, the stand folds flat to about 11 by 7.9 by 0.2 inches, making it easy to slide into a laptop bag or a desk drawer between meetings or when working from different locations. The open aluminum frame leaves the underside of the laptop exposed to air rather than sealing it against a solid surface, supporting better thermal performance than typing directly on a desk or a soft surface like a lap or cushion. At roughly 1.18 pounds packaged, the stand adds minimal weight to a bag while providing a stable riser. The elevated position it creates also frees desk space underneath for a keyboard and mouse, turning a laptop into more of a workstation-style setup without a separate monitor.
