Khorada - Salt - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Limited double 180gm clear vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. 2018 . Rising from the ashes of Agalloch and Giant Squid, a new group is born Khôrada. Featuring former Agalloch members Don Anderson (guitar), Jason Walton (bass) and Aesop Dekker (drums) alongside ex-Giant Squid guitarist / vocalist Aaron John Gregory, Khôrada creates colossal, textured, and emotionally powerful music. As a completely fresh concept, Khôrada is an opportunity for the musicians to explore new soundscapes while challenging themselves creatively. With their debut album Salt, Khôrada forges breathtaking swathes of sound that swell, stretch, submerge and recede with panoramic power. At once atmospheric, aggressive and apocalyptic, the album's emotion is driven by the band members' view of today's world; these are precarious times. Salt was written under the pressure and uncertainty of the beginning of the Trump-era, standing as a musical exploration of the routine madness we now live. Paired with the surreally visceral artwork of internationally renowned painter & sculptor Cedric Wentworth, the visual explorations prove to be as haunting as the ethereal vocals of Aaron himself.

The seed for ELEPHANT TREE was planted in a rehearsal space somewhere in the smelly back alleys of England's sleepless capital of London in 2013. There, the first notes of what would become the song InchAttack of the AltaicaInch sprang from the bass of Jack Townley and Sam Hart's drums. Thus, it is only fitting that this earliest demo became the opening track of the band's new rarities collection InchHandful of TenInch. The infectious blend of warm, syrupy fuzz and soaring vocal harmonies on 'Attack of the Altaica' soon led to contract and the debut full-length InchTheiaInch was released in September 2014. The debut album received an excellent reception by critics and fans alike. Now reissued as InchTheiaInch (Anniversary Edition), the music of this milestone is untouched, but the artwork has been given a refreshing inversion, and a wealth of rare photos, liner notes and lyrics have been added to provide a thorough look at the band's first decade since the original . The hardworking Englishmen did not rest on their laurels, and in 2015 followed up with the self-titled sophomore full-length InchElephant TreeInch. ELEPHANT TREE's decision to try a tag closer to home ultimately did not work out as the new tag ran into trouble, which left the band's third and latest album InchHabitsInch (2020) without the ongoing support it deserved. Now, ELEPHANT TREE are reissuing the acclaimed InchHabitsInch via Magnetic Eye to make it widely available again and to satisfy the continued demand. Looking back at ten most exciting years, ELEPHANT TREE enthusiastically present 'Handful of Ten' containing great tunes pulled from their archive alongside the brash and blistering new tracks, ready to delight longtime followers and win over new friends to their unique brand of melodic doom all thriller, no filler!
