Bratakus - Hagridden - VINYL LP

Hagridden' is the second full-length from Scottish sisters Bratakus. Fiercely political and unapologetic, the duo made up of siblings Brèagha Cuinn (guitar and vocals) and Onnagh Cuinn (bass and vocals) deliver ten songs that combine garage rock and feminist punk with the same deft poise as forerunners The Distillers, The Donnas, Bikini Kill and X-Ray Spex. In 2019, a BBC news report called Bratakus Inchthe UK's most remote punk bandInch. Formed in 2015 outside a small whiskey village called Tomintoul in the Scottish Highlands, the sisters (then 14 and 8 years old) have maintained a DIY ethos in everything they've done. Recording at home, self-releasing music, booking their own tours and with no drummer available locally, the duo turned their limitation into a statement, performing live with a drum machine and cementing their reputation as an uncompromising force within the punk scene. 'Hagridden' marks a new beginning for the two sisters, introducing real drums to the recording process (including a guest appearance from Chris Dangerous of Swedish rock band The Hives) plus a more focused approach to songwriting. The message and music are just as loud, but the execution is now deadlier than ever.

Life Betrays Us - Somewhere In Between - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

After a chance encounter on the streets of London between members of the Portuguese and UK hardcore scenes led to the formation of Life Betrays Us, 2015's incendiary demo was put out to immediate praise in hardcore music circles. The group's pedigree - featuring members of Bun Dem Out, Reality Slap, Tirade, Ironed Out, LBU, Steal Your Crown, and Crippler LBU - continues to shine on debut EP InchSomewhere In BetweenInch with an even heavier sound and crushing production courtesy of Stu McKay at Studio 6. Current single InchBad DecisionsInch (featuring Pierre from UK hardcore kings Knuckledust) indicates the ferocity and song-writing present on InchSomewhere In BetweenInch and the group's commitment to an all killer/no filler policy has ensured that this is one of 2017's essential heavy music releases. Following on from their impressive and well-acclaimed summer 2015 demo, London's Life Betrays Us have wasted no time in returning to the studio to record the follow-up and Rucktion Records is proud to present their debut official . InchSomewhere In BetweenInch features 6 brand new songs of complete and utter fury and mayhem, a fresh take on heavy London hardcore in the classic Rucktion style but featuring new faces and exciting, original twists to the formula. Monstrous, brutal and raging grooves are spread throughout InchSomewhere In BetweenInch and while remaining mostly mid-paced, the sheer business of Life Betrays Us' chugging and riffing as they attack their song give the band a compelling intensity. Unconventional and refreshing song structures and the occasional discordant passage allow for a break in amongst the chaos and prove the band can add in other dimensions to their sound. The result is the classic Rucktion sound, armour-plated for 2017 with some fresh and original twists, raging heavy London hardcore for fans of Lifeless, Crown Of Thornz, Bun Dem Out, Kru

Deathcrash - Less - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Recorded at the UK's most remote studio in the Outer Hebrides, Less follows their critically acclaimed 2022 album, Return with a statement in reduction that turns out to be as powerful and potent as it is tender and introspective. InchThe mission statement was to be super minimal,Inch says Deathcrash singer Tiernan Banks. InchJust simple and beautiful guitar parts and to be really bare. To be... less.Inch Swiftly following Return, the band initially had no plans to make a full length. InchThe last thing we felt like doing was making another album,Inch says bassist Patrick Fitzgerald. InchIt was like, 'let's do this little EP that's aesthetically quite different and pared down'.Inch Less was always planned to be a statement in reduction but it soon became apparent that the songs the band were writing were significant, personal and, despite the intentions to strip things back, bigger. InchAs time went on, we started putting much more emotional weight into it and it became more important to us,Inch says Banks. The result is a record that is as powerful and potent as it is tender and introspective, with arrangements that manage to feel refined yet detailed and with a deep emotional resonance at the core of the record. Banks' voice shifts from hushed whispers to guttural screams, one minute tapping into the kind of fragile beauty that artists like Elliott Smith managed so well, on tracks such as 'Duffy's' before unleashing a doom metal growl in thundering unison with the band on 'Empty Heavy'.1. Pirouette 2. Empty Heavy3. Duffy's 4. And Now I Am Lit 5. Distance Song 6. Turn 7. Dead, Crashed
