A: The grey plastic piece that comes with your refrigerator is a filler plate if your fridge does not come with the Fresh Flow Air Filter system. I Googled the part number and found it on this schematic drawing.
A: Had the same problem, also food above began to spoil or get moldy quickly. Called BestBuy, but since we didn’t pay for Geek Squad & it was over 30 days, they told us to call KitchenAid. Took us awhile to get someone (held on phone for over an hour), but when technician came out, he said there was no drain hole. This was a defective unit. He thawed out the ice, but said that it should be sent back. I notified BestBuy that they were selling defective appliances without checking them out. KitchenAid picked up the fridge & refunded our money. We definitely believe that both BestBuy & KitchenAid know about this problem.
A: My frig was 12 years old. I had the geek guy from Best Buy come and measure. It's free service. At first he said it would not fit. I pressed him to look closer and remeasure. It does fit. I can hardly put a piece of paper on either side but it does fit where the old frig was. I kept my old refrigerator to be sure. For $20 they will move your old frig to the garage also. Hope this helps.
Q: Does the ice maker make crushed ice, besides the cubes, as does my current older KitchenAid?
A: Yes. You may select regular ice cubes...which are actually a bit small, or crushed ice.
Q: Is the refrigerator noisy? Loud?
A: Yes, motor is so loud and grindy
A: The counter-depth option allows an even profile with the counters which is awesome, but in my experience, getting drawers out has been an issue. Mine is in the corner so there's a wall to the right and a dishwasher on the left, and both have restricted getting the drawers out. However, opening the doors enough to get the drawers open to get stuff out (90 degrees) has worked fine. I couldn't do w/o the counter-depth option bc it's a small kitchen. For the occasional times when I have to remove the drawers I've had to bring the whole refrigerator out from the back wall, then push it back.
Q: Is it possible to get different door handles for this model?
A: Hello Puffles, we can only recommend the handles that the Refrigerator is manufactured with. Thank you for your inquiry on our KitchenAid appliances.
Q: Is the Kitchenaid counter-depth refrigerator 6366742 quieter than Whirlpool model588FIHZ?
A: We've had ours for just over a year. It is very quiet. We'd had the 'sister' KitchenAid to this newer model; both counter-depth, pretty much without issue (the earlier KitchenAid lasted 10 years, and quite suddenly, the compressor died and we needed to replace the frig very fast or lose $$ in the frozen goods inside). To us, they are the same Whirlpool/KitchenAid quality that we expect for our money. The only complaints we have about this new model: it seems to have a smaller interior space; I can only imagine that the insulated walls have been bolstered; the freezer also seems to be smaller. The other design complaint is the lack of shelf support options that are molded into the side walls. Three drawers (different depths) must be at the bottom, and three shelves for the upper portion only have four shelf supports options. The door bins: there are two wider bins for the upper and the covered, butter bin at top. There are two narrow bins seated across from the drawers when closed. There are lots of notches molded in the door so you have flexibility to accommodate the different heights of condiments, milk cartons, etc. I'm finding I could use another bin to utilize more refrigerator space, but can't find it (yet). I have my own question about that on this forum. The ice maker has worked beautifully and when it fills and ice drops, is probably the noisiest part of its operation.

I have had this side-by-side refrigerator for just under a month and have several, particular likes and only one or two concerns: Pros: Ice is FANTASTIC, it is not the half moon shape that contours to the side of a glass. The finish IS easy to keep clean, so far. I am tall and so is the refrigerator, so it makes the most out of vertical space (measure for cabinet clearance!). The configurable shelves, lighting and "chrome" finishes are nice. Contrary to other reviews, I do not find that it runs loud. Cons: My units refrigerator door does not close as tightly as the freezer door, so at the bottom, they are not flush across the front. I suspect there is an issue that is not easily remedied. Some of the plastic edges, are sharp...particularly on the clear door to the "butter" compartment. The drawers do not run as securely as I expect them to and do not feel sturdy.

We are definitely happy with our purchase and learned in the process that KitchenAid is the same manufacturer as whirlpool. Unlike a lot of of the French door options - it becomes an issue when trying to open the door. This perfectly fit our space and has more than enough interior capacity. The exterior ice and water was important to us. The ice bin is ideal - you can actually remove it. In addition, the ice cubes are not the traditional crescent, but a unique medium size cube. We love the handles. They are almost retro in appearance. The stainless does not show any fingerprints. The functionality and practical aspects of how the shelves are situated is extremely helpful to allow you plenty of options to fit everything. Even though this is a little bit smaller in size, you can maximize the space with the layout. We like the look of this refrigerator, it maximizes your space and you do not have to take in consideration how the doors open they remain flush with your existing space.

I like 90% of the features. Have not tried the ice maker yet. I should have bypassed the wine rack. It fits very well and does not stick out from my counter. Not bulky, the freezer has just enough room for everyday cooking, and I don’t have to crowd my garage freezer. The drawers and shelves we to be kinda cheaply made.
