We had looked at dual-fuel ranges last year, but didn't pull the trigger for various reasons. I'm glad we waited, because when we were recently forced to buy a new range (a burner on the old one was leaking natural gas), we found this one, which just looks better than the older model (I didn't like the tilted knobs on the older model). So, a few things which are amazingly hard to glean from the specs on the website (BB or KitchenAid). 1. Yes, the stovetop has gas burners and the double-ovens are electric. Only the lower oven is a convection oven. 2. The electrical hookup requires a 240v outlet. I had guessed this, but couldn't be sure, so we had the new range sitting in the living room for a week before I could get an electrician out to put in a new 240 outlet (our old oven was all gas). 3. At least for us, it DID come with the 240v cord already connected. Yay! 4. We tried to use the stovetop gas burners without hooking up the electricity, but THIS UNIT WILL NOT ALLOW GAS TO FLOW TO THE BURNERS IF THERE IS NO ELECTRICAL CONNECTION. Apparently there is a second solenoid/valve AFTER the regulator that will not open without an electrical connection. Fired right up after plugging it in. Yay again! 5. It comes with a non-stick griddle for use on the stovetop. Yay! 6. It comes with a water tray for a "steam" mode, but the steam mode is only for the lower oven. Now for a few general things.... When you look at the stovetop, it looks like the burners are too far under the cast iron grate, but I have not found any problems getting pots and pans up to heat. It is sort of a pain to clean the stove top if you spill, but only because you have to remove the entire grate, and that's easy peazey. The oven heating seems pretty even and I love the way the display shows the temperature rising up to the preheat level. The display uses blue and red colors, btw. Very cool looking! I do NOT like that timer only beeps ONCE when time is up. I want at least 5 or 6 beeps. Last thing, the upper oven is perfect for pizza. My homemade method requires a preheat to 500 degrees (handmade dough), however, and the top oven seemed like it topped out at 485. No biggie, but be aware. Haven't tried the limits of the lower oven. Overall, though, we really love this oven/range. There aren't too many dual fuel ranges, and this one looks and performs nicely! Four stars! BTW, for me, five stars means perfect, and I've yet to find a perfect product.
