Kokomo Arnold - Complete Recorded 1 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Arnold had a very lyrical and and vocal sound to his playing and played in a very frenzied rhythmic style. By 1935, Arnold, though not totally abandoning the country life; that his music had been born out of, had started to become accustomed to the big city, Chicago in particular. This session saw the first use of piano playing (provided by Peetie W.) to back up his highly personal slide style.

Toronzo Cannon is the most exciting bluesmen to emerge from Chicago in decades, playing brawny, rock-inspired guitar and singing original, slice-of-life lyrics that speak to today's listeners. The Preacher, The Politician Or The Pimp finds Toronzo raising the ante on his modern day blues vision, with 12 distinctive new songs that skillfully blend witty, Inchain't it the truthInch anthems with searing topical observations. Through it all Toronzo burns on guitar and brings his lyrics to life with spirited, soul-drenched singing.
