Kreutzer Quartet - String Quartets 1 & 2 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

New recording from Elisabeth Leonskaja - an album which pays tribute to the second Viennese school featuring works by Berg, Schoenberg, Webern. One of the most celebrated pianists of our time, remaining true to herself and to her music, and in doing so, is following in the footsteps of the great Russian musicians of the Soviet era, such as Sviatoslav Richter and Emil Gilels... InchWhen I play, I am not presenting myself on the stage, but the music I am playing. It is the music that matters.Inch EL

Various Artists - Memorable Swedish String Quartets 4 / Various [COMPACT DISCS] date 11/14/1991

Part of Metier's ongoing series of recordings of the music of Michael Finnissy, one of Britain's most accomplished and acclaimed contemporary composers. InchThis is rather special. If variety is the spice of life, then this disc is hot. And so are the Kreutzer Quartet, whose commitment and spirit make this demanding music sound clear, fluent and gritty. A must for anyone interested in new music, or in the evolution of the string quartet as a genre.Inch - Fabrice Fitch (Gramophone)
