Lou Reed and Kris Kristofferson - Bottom Line Archive Series: In Their Own Words - VINYL LP

Limited 1500 quantity 3LP set of Lou Reed and Kris Kristofferson's set from 1994 at the famed Bottom Line in NYC.We bring you another historic, once-in-a-lifetime meeting taking place during the winter of '94 on that venerable Bottom Line stage. Culled from an evening that also included Suzanne Vega and Victoria Williams, there was perhaps no other pairing more perfectly suited to the In Their Own Words than this singular meeting of Lou Reed and Kris Kristofferson. As much a course in music history and songwriting as a performance, and years before VH1's Storytellers series, Allan Pepper and Vin Sclesa's ITOW series afforded the audience a window into the minds of their favorite songsmiths, in a run that lasted from May of 1990 until March of 2003. The two songsmiths in question were born and raised in two very different worlds - Lou Reed in the jungles of New York City and Kris Kristofferson in the heart of the Southland. Still, both men demanded total artistic freedom and created raw, brutally honest art that addressed strikingly similar issues of struggles - with loneliness and alienation, addiction and recovery, love and loss, good and evil, vulnerability and hopelessness - painfully aware of contradictions and critical of hypocrisy, painting pictures of characters known or imagined, yet always finding the humanity in our faults and weaknesses during our darkest hours. Through the lens of their music, Lou and Kris view the human condition with a sense of humility and no small amount of humor, which was always close at hand. Artist Lou Album Tracks 1. John Hiatt - Live from Austin TX - VINYL LP
5.0(1)

Vinyl LP pressing. One could argue (at least I will) that John Hiatt was at a peak in his career when he took the Austin City Limits stage on December 14, 1993. His musical journey began in the 70's with an angry rocker image which gradually gave way to a mellower, more introspective country-folk-rock style. But labels don't do justice to his unusual imagery and evocative lyrics. He's never been afraid of tackling personal and social issues, and he does so with grace and style, but he's also perfectly capable of turning up the volume and giving younger rockers a run for their money. This show originally aired on the heels of his highly-acclaimed album, PERFECTLY GOOD GUITAR, which The Los Angeles Times called Inchthe most boldly rocking record in more than a decade.Inch He is joined here by lead guitarist Michael Ward from School of Fish and bassist Davey Faragher and drummer Michael Urbano, both from Cracker. As always, Hiatt demonstrates his knack for turning terse phrases and creating musical stories that make him a rare Inchsongwriter's songwriter.Inch Album Tracks 1. Icy Blue Heart 2. Loving a Hurricane 3. When You Hold Me Tight 4. Your Dad Did 5. Straight Outta Time 6. Memphis in the Meantime 7. Something Wild 8. Have a Little Faith in Me 9. Buffalo River Home 10. Thing Called Love 11. Angel 12. Tennessee Plates 13. Slow Turning 14. Perfectly Good Guitar
