Lou Reed and Kris Kristofferson - Bottom Line Archive Series: In Their Own Words - VINYL LP

Limited 1500 quantity 3LP set of Lou Reed and Kris Kristofferson's set from 1994 at the famed Bottom Line in NYC.We bring you another historic, once-in-a-lifetime meeting taking place during the winter of '94 on that venerable Bottom Line stage. Culled from an evening that also included Suzanne Vega and Victoria Williams, there was perhaps no other pairing more perfectly suited to the In Their Own Words than this singular meeting of Lou Reed and Kris Kristofferson. As much a course in music history and songwriting as a performance, and years before VH1's Storytellers series, Allan Pepper and Vin Sclesa's ITOW series afforded the audience a window into the minds of their favorite songsmiths, in a run that lasted from May of 1990 until March of 2003. The two songsmiths in question were born and raised in two very different worlds - Lou Reed in the jungles of New York City and Kris Kristofferson in the heart of the Southland. Still, both men demanded total artistic freedom and created raw, brutally honest art that addressed strikingly similar issues of struggles - with loneliness and alienation, addiction and recovery, love and loss, good and evil, vulnerability and hopelessness - painfully aware of contradictions and critical of hypocrisy, painting pictures of characters known or imagined, yet always finding the humanity in our faults and weaknesses during our darkest hours. Through the lens of their music, Lou and Kris view the human condition with a sense of humility and no small amount of humor, which was always close at hand. Artist Lou Album Tracks 1. Kris Kristofferson - Kristofferson - Limited 180-Gram Orange Colored Vinyl - VINYL LP

Limited edition of 2000 numbered copies on orange coloured 180-gram audiophile vinyl. Country icon Kris Kristofferson released his debut album Kristofferson in 1970, marking the belated start of what would turn out to be a long and illustrious recording career. He was a pioneering figure in the outlaw country movement, moving away from the polished Nashville sound and toward a more raw, introspective style. Lyrically, he was very politically aware, further distinguishing himself from other country acts. Many of his early songs were written by Kristofferson while on a side job flying workers to and from oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, which he would then pitch in his time off. Via June Carter he attempted to reach her partner Johnny Cash, who later invited Kristofferson to join him at the 1969 Newport Folk Festival. Following this performance, Fred Foster of Monument Records signed him as a songwriter and recording artist and the rest is history. Album Tracks 1. Blame It on the Stones 2. To Beat the Devil 3. Me and Bobby McGee 4. The Best of All Possible Worlds 5. Help Me Make It Through the Night 6. The Law Is for Protection of the People 7. Casey's Last Ride 8. Just the Other Side of Nowhere 9. Darby's Castle 10. For the Good Times 11. Duvalier's Dream 12. Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down
