About this product
HUBRIS is the fourth album from the New York based songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Kristo Rodzevski. The album is a natural continuation from his previous free jazz/pop infused work, but includes a more hard-edged, rock sound.Rodzevski works with his usual troupe of notable musicians from New York's avant and experimental music scene. His abrasive guitar chords provide an ominous foundation over which vulnerable vocals and deeply personal lyrics are intertwined with the scintillating, architectural electronics of Ikue Mori (DNA, Phantom Orchard), the forward driving drums of Tomas Fujiwara (Thumbscrew, Triple Double), the phantasmagorical sound of Mary Halvorson (Code Girl), and the grounding, iconoclastic bass of Bill Laswell. Richly produced to craft a singular landscape of sound by Laswell, it achieves a blended and layered effect while still allowing the songs space to breathe.Acerbic and provocative, HUBRIS is a sonic mural, a turning, folding chimera with themes of distorted intimacy, unconscious fantasy, mortality, loss, and the realities of the immigrant experience. This is life in it's unflinching wholeness - messy, sad, exuberant, and joyous. -NailsWasting Your TimeStefieGauzeIcarusLocked InBlow UpPrideBailey's BicycleOff Suit

*Released only a handful of months following the band's breakthrough debut EP, Remove Your Skin Please signaled that whatever Chat Pile was doing wasn't just a one-off novelty of Midwest metal nihilism. While the band's foundational sound of caustic and cacophonous noise rock crystallized with it's debut, the of Remove Your Skin Please signposted the vast extent to which Chat Pile could stylistically tinker and conceptually iterate atop it. Heard in the gothy post-punk dirge of InchMaskInch and the dissonant extreme metal fervor of InchDavis', the more experimental ideas present on Remove Your Skin Please come off less like a selection of the band's conceptual prototypes and more like fully realized reflections of it's member's own tastes and preferences. That doesn't mean Chat Pile's noise rock foundation is diluted in the slightest as EP bookends InchDallas BeltwayInch and InchGarbage ManInch push it's twisted take on the genre to new aural extremes in it's instrumentation and subject matter spanning grisly serial murders to the slow festering death of the environment at the hands of mankind. For as ugly and unhinged as Chat Pile's tales of 21st-century American dread are, Remove Your Skin Please asserts something that is somehow subtly even more terrifying If a quartet of otherwise ordinary Okies can convey such apocalyptically bleak yet resonate messages in it's music, that may mean we feel that same nihilism, too.
Translucent green colored vinyl with poster. Record-breaking Brit and Grammy Award-nominated, Billboard Award-winning global sensations, Glass Animals, announce the special anniversary collection of their critically acclaimed third album, Dreamland. Dreamland is the album that brought us the global hit, InchHeat Waves,Inch leading to a 5 billion+ global streaming band.
