- Description: At the turn of the 1980s, L.G. Mair, Jr. was coercing young electronic gear into odd new timbres by day and masquerading as a consummate bass guitar hero by night - a regular fixture at the legendary NYC comedy club Catch a Rising Star, where he was the house bass player - regularly performing alongside a host of iconic comedians from the past 40 years inc. Robin Williams, Andy Kaufman and Chris Rock. His early music was born out of improvisation, often recorded between acts at Catch and he soon began issuing a dizzying array of home-baked cassettes. In the 1980s, cassettes were the ultimate guerrilla media, from home-dubbed compilations to private releases in editions of 100 copies, tapes offered a chance to redraw established evolutionary accounts. It was probably no coincidence that Mair, Jr. thrived in this realm - a continuum which offered him the seductive prospect of both escape and compensation, insight and freakout. In 1992, Mair, Jr. released 'Music for Winefride', which on it's 30th anniversary remains, in it's own unassuming way, a revelatory work of electro-minimalism. It swings between beautifully suspended chords, avant-funk tropes and mesmeric loops for it's entire duration, yet this never feels like a confrontation or a challenge. Neither is it tedious; the apparent stasis on the surface of the music invites the listener to look beneath and discover the detail teeming below. The album is warm, approachable and often startlingly melodic. Perhaps most important of all in understanding why it's influence has proved so enduring amongst obscure music enthusiasts - you can dance to it.Mair, Jr. recorded hundreds of cassettes during this period, most of which remained unreleased or traded with like-minded artists around the world. Nevertheless, the music he made at this time was some of his most melodic, accessible and at times brazenly brilliant. The sound of

Limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on gold coloured 180-gram audiophile vinyl. With their 2009 , Congregation of the Damned, the Southern California-based Metalcore quintet Atreyu blew all preconceptions out of the water, commanding us yet again to expect the unexpected. Not only is the record more like a well-crafted continuation of the minefield-strewn path they were on when they recorded 2006's A Death-Grip on Yesterday, it's filled with some of the band's darkest, most political material to date. Not only have Atreyu been fueled by their passion, they've been motivated by their determination to point out the ugliness they've witnessed all around them. Album Tracks 1. Stop! Before It's Too Late and We've Destroyed It All 2. Bleeding Is a Luxury 3. Congregation of the Damned 4. Coffin Nails 5. Black Days Begin 6. Gallows 7. Storm to Pass 8. You Were the King, Now You're Unconcious 9. Insatiable 10. So Wrong 11. Ravenous 12. Lonely 13. Wait for You

Limited white colored vinyl LP pressing. King of a Land is an epic body of work. More than a decade in the making, it's 12 new songs are full of extraordinary surprises. Unique and transportive, Yusuf's music, words and melodies paint a vivid picture of a world which embraces the lost lands of truisms and stainless youth, and brings it into touching distance. His poetical storytelling invites the listener on a journey towards the gates of an alternative universe to that which we presently inhabit - where happy endings can possibly happen. From the gloriously unexpected hard-rock intensity of 'Pagan Run' to the Tchaikovsky-inspired orchestration on 'How Good It Feels', the delicate acoustic balladry of 'He Is True' through to the driving Phil Spector-goes-gospel vibe of 'Highness', the Travelling Wilburys-styled rolling Americana groove of 'All Nights, All Days', and the ornate, atmospheric 'Son Of Mary', 'King of a Land' is an epic body of work. Album Tracks 1. Train on a Hill 2. King of a Land 3. Pagan Run 4. He Is True 5. All Nights, All Days 6. Another Night in the Rain 1. Things 2. Son of Mary 3. Highness 4.
