About this product
XO Skeleton is the supple, steady, uncanny new album by La Force a mixture of haunted pop and hot-blooded R&B that glistens at the meeting-point between life, death and love. InchIn dreams, the dead and living are the same,Inch Ariel Engle sings on InchOctober,Inch her voice shimmering. InchMaybe that's why I'm better in the dark.Inch The finality of death? The protection that another person's love can or cannot bestow? These are body questions, matters of breath and flesh and pulse, which is the stuff at the centre of all of La Force's music-beginning on her 2018 debut and also outward, into Engle's electrifying work with Broken Social Scene, Big Red Machine, Efrim Menuck, Safia Nolin, and AroarA, her duo with her husband, Andrew Whiteman. La Force's voice is stunning-somehow luscious and also wise-but so is her point of view-steady, sensitive, physical. Engle made the album at home, in the house where she grew up, where she got married, where her father died-a place that's Inchboth completely dead and completely alive,Inch she says a structure at the threshold of her inner and outer worlds. Off and on for two whole years, Engle's old friend, co-producer Warren Spicer (Plants and Animals), would work in her basement until lunch, allowing songs to unfold at heartbeat pace. When Will You ReturnInch ist the debut of basementproject BRAVE ARROWS from Wadsworth / Ohio. The features five songs plus an thus far unreleased Remix. The music dwells in the cosmos of Postrock and Postmetal witch a higher emphasis on the firstmentioned. If you are familiar with the genre itself, you might notice the significant guitarlines that weave through the songs. Brave Arrows ist the sideproject of Michael Socrates, who ist part of the band If This Trees Could Talk.
While the sounds are familiar, we see Aesop venturing in some exciting new directions with appearances from Kimya Dawson, Allyson Baker, Hanni El Khatib, Rob Sonic, and DJ Big Wiz.
Ripping forth like a dagger from the flesh of Austin, Texas, comes the self-titled debut album from the lone star state's new wreckers of civilization, Skeleton. Having plied their black market trade for several years in grime-infested underground dungeons and sub-basements, 20 Buck Spin was called forth to issue their first album, a cataclysmic expansion of the band's unhallowed vision, venturing well beyond it's earlier borders. Though some might be prone to lazily apply simplistic genre tags to Skeleton's style, the reality is far more sweeping as this debut immediately reveals an excessively sharp metallic-charged juggernaut of severe force and high plains mayhem. Contained within are war-like hymns for the soldiers of a scorched apocalypse to come, from which a bleak alternate future will no doubt emerge. The eleven tracks comprising Skeleton signal the black dawn of a new breed, and when the final somber strains of InchCatacombsInch close out the album, an eerie sense of the end as the beginning lingers like a morbid premonition
