About this product

Since the creation of their ensemble La Nereide in 2019, the three sopranos Camille Allerat, Julie Roset and Ana Vieira Leite have wanted to tell stories about women, women who are courageous, vulnerable, passionate, powerful, secretive - and sometimes all of these at once. Le Coeur et la Raison imagines the fate of a young noblewoman sent to the Demoiselles de Saint-Cyr, where she received a meticulous education, particularly in music; she took part in services and sang works by it's organist Louis-Nicolas Clerambault (1676-1749) - including his magnificent Miserere - and by Jean-Francois Lalouette (1651-1728), a pupil of Lully. When she returned to her family, however, she sang the melodies of fashionable court airs, which she then shared with her fellow students at Saint-Cyr, to the great disapproval of the religious authorities. She and her colleagues then rewrote the song texts transforming the declarations of love into statements of faith. Today, these three friends and artists present an emotionally charged programme, accompanied by a first-rate instrumental trio.

La Nereide - Il Concerto Segreto - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

An exceptional amount of musical activity took place in the court of Ferrara during the latter years of the 16th century, in particular thanks to a remarkable trio of female voices who had been trained by Luzzasco Luzzaschi, the court's maestro di cappella. To hear them was a privilege that Alfonso d' Este allowed his guests only briefly and infrequently. Their repertoire was kept secret and was finally published - and then only in part - in 1601. The singers of La Néréide here devote their first recording to this collection in it's entirety, reconstructing the conditions in which these works were created with harpsichord, viol and lute accompaniment the harpsichord would have been played by Luzzaschi himself, whilst the three singers mastered the other instruments with as much skill as their voices.

Blood Orange - Essex Honey - VINYL LP

Double vinyl LP pressed at 45 RPM. 2025 . Essex Honey explores themes of family grief, England, and the healing, communal power of music throughout a lifetime. Lyrically, the album is diaristic yet communal, existing in the haze of memory that often follows a loss. Musically, this is reflected sonically through analog recordings, recurring cello motifs, nods to earlier Blood Orange projects, and various musical interpolations from Hynes' youth. Sonically, the album includes an array of arrangements and instruments like the acoustic guitar with a punk distortion and melodic ethereal tones that were woven into his dreams as a kid growing up in Essex, imagining his future. Essex Honey features contributions from The Durutti Column, Mustafa, Caroline Polachek, Daniel Caesar, Lorde, Zadie Smith, Tirzah, Brendan Yates (Turnstile), and Mabe Fratti.

Pop Evil - What Remains - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Modern rock powerhouse Pop Evil's eighth full-length album, What Remains, is the culmination and story of this bands journey, laid bare like never before. Continuing in the recent vein of 2023's acclaimed Skeletons album, What Remains is both sonically and thematically Pop Evil's heaviest ever offering; a thundering collection of arena-ready modern rock and metal hits in which Leigh Kakaty opens heart, mind and soul - pulling no punches and taking no prisoners in doing so. InchThere are a lot of issues and things that I've dealt with in this journey of Pop Evil that I've buried for a long time,Inch the frontman explains of this document of resilience, perseverance and accountability. Sonically the album is a riotous explosion of life-afrming noise; a vortex of scything riffs and gut-punch drum beats that regularly give way to Pop Evil's hallmark anthemic choruses. The 10 tracks occupy territory that will be at once immediately familiar to the Pop Evil family, but that has been refreshed and re energized with help from production from longtime collaborator Drew Fulk (Disturbed, Knocked Loose), Cody Quistad, plus Zach Jones (Fever 333, Maggie Lindemann) and KJ Strock (Ice Nine Kills, Motionless In White), and the Sparrow Sound team of Joe McQueen and Spiritbox bassist Josh Gilbert (Bad Wolves, As I Lay Dying). InchWe set out to push boundaries,Inch nods Kakaty. InchMetal has always been a part of our DNA, but we've never made it such a focal point before. A lot of writing on this record has been about listening to what my soul is saying and letting the songs find their own path, rather than chasing a sound that might fit in on the radio. I think you can really hear the mood and emotion of the album's themes in the music.Inch
