Dreverhaven is dead. The city's most feared bailiff, the curse of the poor, the agent of law without compassion discovered with a knife through his heart. A self-taught lawyer who just passes his exams was the last person to see Dreverhaven alive. Now, the police want to know why he visited the old man, and the young barrister is ready to tell the story of a lifetime.Based on the popular classic 1938 Dutch novel by Ferdinand Bordewijk,
Innocent schoolgirl Camille (Charlotte Gainsbourg) found the bestie she'd been seeking when the slightly older Joëlle (Anouk Grinberg) got booted from a car by her abusive boyfriend. Her new companion quickly leads them down a increasingly surreal path of promiscuity and violence, in Bertrand Blier's darkly satirical road opus. Jean-Louis Trintignant, Gerard Depardieu, Annie Girardot, Jean Carmet, Catherine Jacob, Michel Blanc, Thierry Frémont also star. 117 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack French; Subtitles English; featurettes; image gallery. In French with English subtitles.
Celebrated filmmaker Ira Sachs (Love is Strange) makes a breathtaking return with Passages, a fresh, honest and brutally funny take on messy, modern relationships, starring Franz Rogowski (Great Freedom), Ben Whishaw (Women Talking) and Adèle Exarchopoulos (Blue Is the Warmest Colour).
