About this product
Brother Music present an official reissue and first CD issue of Laid Back's self-titled debut album, originally released in 1981. Released by Laid Back on their own tag in a carefully re-edited edition including seven bonus tracks. Remastered by the band from the original 4-track audio tapes. Includes the timeless early hit InchBoliviaInch and the classic InchRogerInch which was covered by MGMT. In the beginning, Laid Back studio was a 4-track studio. Many of the songs from the first album were recorded on 4-track, including InchBoliviaInch. However, in the process the band upgraded to an 8-track and re-recorded InchBoliviaInch, the version that made the album. Listening back to the 4-track version, it has got the groove that was lost on the 8-track version. Laid Back were always going for the best sound. All of the band's big hits are first takes -that's where the magic is. Much time and effort were spent to restore the 4-track version, without changing or adding anything. Just editing and improvement of sound. Engineered by Bjørn Winnem.

How does one cope with the pang of desire? It's the tender, sometimes volatile question that confronts Genevieve Beaudoin on her debut full-length as Dead Gowns. A deft lyricist with a sweeping range of poetic color and texture, Beaudoin paints her story in dark romantics, presenting a woman in the high summer of adulthood deciphering life's capacity to fulfill desires or let them go painfully unmet. These cravings - to be touched, to be known, to have just one more encounter with someone lost to time - are a lacuna Beaudoin prods at insistently throughout the album's twelve songs.
